I really struggled with this holiday cottage. The communal garden had screaming kids and yapping dogs. The facilities for drying clothes or wetsuits is in effect non existent. It lacked a dvd player to help distract from wet weather and every cupboard in the kitchen is stacked with fairly useless clutter meaning food stores had to be left on the limited work surface. The decor is dated and the carpet really could do with replacement with a more practical hygienic solution. Hot water....was dangerous... Nice walk down to the estuary... Excellent location for Wadebridge Padstow and the fantastic beaches in the area. Nice view from master bedroom of the estuary and Padstow... Weather allowing. The cottage needs updating...and declutering. .. Drying facilities need to be provided... Dvd player's are cheap... Equipment provided should be in good working condition...the airer was broken and rusted. I won't be returning...

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry to learn this client was so disappointed with the cottage. The communal gardens are "communal" and I can do nothing about noisy children or yapping dogs. As for my cottage, dogs are not allowed; other owners are responsible for their behaviour. I take the point about the airier, a new one will be provided but space inside is limited. I have owned the cottage since the whole complex was brought up to date and hanging washing outside has not been permitted. As for the cottage interior, the carpet was replaced throughout about 4 years ago with a suitable hard wearing one and does not need replacing at the moment. The bathroom was completely stripped out and replaced three years ago. New modern easy chairs of the G-plan and leather variety replaced well-worn furniture two years ago. This includes an electric reclining chair which alone has received very positive feedback. In Feb. this year the kitchen was stripped out and brand new units were installed. Altering its configuration is difficult. All twenty cottages in the complex were built in the mid-19th century and were only ever two up two down labourers' cottages around a central courtyard. I believe I do the best I can each year to make it comfortable and welcoming given that it is very old and I am sorry my efforts caused such criticism.
