Description

Romancing couples will be temped by Pinfold Cottage – a delightful stone-built, detached holiday cottage just for two.

This detached stone built cottage is located towards the edge of the village, being close to many local attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the pretty market town of Bakewell. The owners, to create a very welcoming and warm cottage atmosphere throughout, have tastefully and sympathetically restored and extended accommodation. You enter the property into the very light and airy well equipped vaulted kitchen/dining area which has all the equipment you will require for your stay - it further benefits from taking in the late afternoon and early evening sun. Off this room is a ground floor cloakroom with hand basin and toilet. The kitchen leads through into the very good sized lounge with imposing gritstone fireplace, housing wood burning stove. The original stone steps (be careful as you go up and down) from the lounge go to the bedroom area, with a vaulted ceiling and original king post truss giving the room plenty of character and charm and a king size - the bedroom has its own en suite shower room, with hand basin and toilet. The bedroom window takes in the early morning sun and a glazed door from the bedroom takes you out onto the decked veranda which enjoys views across fields and open countryside, along with the sun through to the late afternoon and early evening.

Very well equipped cottage. We usually take coffee, sugar, kitchen rolls etc with us, but were pleased to find this was already provided. The cottage was comfortable, well sized for two and nicely decorated. A couple of nice walks from the door but otherwise, a good central point for Peak district walking. Had some trouble keeping the log burner going, which was a shame. Some other reviews mentioned that the village pub was never open. We managed a pint there on three nights, the trick is they often don't open up till half nine at night, so don't be put off, if it looks closed on your way back to the cottage earlier in the evening.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped and the neighbours are very friendly. It is a little bit remote - there is no shop in the village - and parking can be a problem as the lane is narrow so you have to pick your spot carefully, especially on bin day! The wifi and freeview all worked perfectly but my mobile phone only got a signal in the corner of the kitchen. However, this added to the peace and quiet! I was very impressed by the Risk Assessment in the instructions folder, the best I have ever seen in a holiday cottage.

Lovely, well equipped cottage, unfortunately the village lacked any facilities, though it was good as a base for exploring the area.
