Description

Couples looking for a romantic break will be temped by Pinfold Cottage – a delightful stone-built, detached holiday cottage just for two.

This detached stone built cottage is located towards the edge of the village, being close to many local attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the pretty market town of Bakewell. The owners, to create a very welcoming and warm cottage atmosphere throughout, have tastefully and sympathetically restored and extended accommodation. You enter the property into the very light and airy well equipped vaulted kitchen/dining area which has all the equipment you will require for your stay - it further benefits from taking in the late afternoon and early evening sun. Off this room is a ground floor cloakroom with hand basin and toilet. The kitchen leads through into the very good sized lounge with imposing gritstone fireplace, housing wood burning stove. The original stone steps (be careful as you go up and down) from the lounge go to the bedroom area, with a vaulted ceiling and original king post truss giving the room plenty of character and charm and a king size - the bedroom has its own en suite shower room, with hand basin and toilet. The bedroom window takes in the early morning sun and a glazed door from the bedroom takes you out onto the decked veranda which enjoys views across fields and open countryside, along with the sun through to the late afternoon and early evening.

Ground Floor:
Property has gas central heating and comprises:
Lounge: With wood burning stove, TV with Freeview HD, DVD, radio accessed via TV.
Kitchen: With electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
Dining Room: With table and chairs for two.
Cloakroom: With WC and wash basin.

First Floor:

All bed linen and towels included. Wi-fi access available. Use of shared fridge/freezer. Enclosed front garden, rear decked terrace and wooden bench. On street parking.

A truly lovely cottage, we had a fantastic and relaxing time. The cottage is cute, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. Good internet connection. Good location, in a cute village, close to good walking trails. The nearest shop and pub are in the next village. Would definitely stay at Pinfold Cottage again!

Amazing cottage, even better than the photos, we absolutely loved it and wished we could have stayed forever.

I recently stayed at Pinfold cottage, Elton from 26/10/17 to 29/10/17. On arrival the cottage appeared to be very well maintained and clean. Unfortunately it didn’t take long to start finding issue with the cottage. The freezer was unusable due to the amount of ice that had accumulated. This meant frozen produce we’d purchased such as ice cream was waisted. As this at the time seemed like a minor issue we decided not to worry and to make the most of our short break. However, as we continued to unpack my partner and I were both aware of a particular strong damp smell. Due to the very nature of the property I didn’t think this was uncommon but quickly found the two causes. The living room window was surrounded by black mould and the shower was leaking into the living room. This seems to have been an unaddressed issue for sometime as the ceiling plaster was crumbling. This seems to be caused by the broken shower head. Whist able to adjust the height of the shower the fitting to adjust the angle is broken. This means that the shower points directly at the wall where water is running into the lounge. This also caused water to run into the stair lights, one of which was already broken. Something I’m sure you’d agree is extremely unsafe?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We keep a close check on the cottage, but are very sorry these issues were missed and affected your stay. Our contact number is available in the property so we can promptly resolve any problems. As soon as we became aware of these issues, we resolved them all. In particular, the shower fitting has been replaced and the shower resealed. We have treated and cleaned around the small under stairs vaulted-window, the main lounge windows were not affected.

Great secluded cosy cottage. Shame local pub has limited opening and a little more firewood would have been welcome as weather was poor!

A really enjoyable walking holiday . We have been booking cottages for around 40 years and this is the best one ever.

An excellent hideaway but within easy reach of many local attractions including National Trust and English Heritage. Beautiful quiet surrounding scenery comfortably observed from outside bedroom balcony/decking. Spotlessly clean with wonderful furnishings. Everything necessary provided for the self catering visitor.

Very well equipped, not cosy because of open stairway, living room cold and dark, lack of a bath after long walks was a pity. Good value, (with reduction), superb walks using good supply of guide books. Decking on verandah is in need of some repair, hedge and front garden need attention.

Good location for a walking weekend, not so great if the weather is bad. Very well equipped, the owners have clearly thought about most things and hit the spot. The cottage was much bigger than we expected.

Very impressed with our 3 night stay at Pinfold Cottage, very welcoming with all mod cons and well equipped kitchen. We would happily stay there again but with regard to local amenities there aren't any apart from the pub which didn't look very inviting. We had brought food with us and ate out during the day so that wasn't a problem but if you wanted to go out for an evening meal the nearest decent pub/restaurant was a couple of miles away which meant one of you couldn't have a drink.
