The cottage had plenty of space but the living areas were quite dark. Although described as dog friendly the garden had no grassy areas for the dog and it was quite a walk to anywhere where she could go!

Very well-equipped, comfortable cottage in a great location, perfect for local walks and as a base for exploring the Jurrasic coast. Portland history books particularly interesting when the weather kept us in. Wish we could have stayed for longer. Three minor points to mention: we could have done with one bright lamp in the lounge on a dark day, and a couple of small side chairs in the bedrooms to put clothes on, also the stairs needed a good vacuuming. These are minor criticisms, overall we loved the place. Thanks!

Wonderful cottage in an area of fantastic views and things to do. Holiday went far to fast as we never covered all the attractions the area had to offer. Would definitely return to both cottage and area again.

Lovely stay in a good location - parking was ok - we have a seven seater so space no issue if driver is competent - however low suspension cars will struggle to get out of the end of the road without grounding due to the very steep slope and sudden flattening onto the main road - cottage itself very nice - sofas a bit too worn and soft to sit on for too long but overall the cottage is well appointed for a comfortable stay. Surrounding area - pubs, good fish and chip shop and convenience stores etc all within walking distance - is great and Weymouth is just a short drive up the road. We loved our time at Pebbles and would definitely return again.

Pebbles is a nice cottage, good position for exploring the Isle of Portland and neighbouring Weymouth. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and we were glad of the parking. The owners were quick to do their best to respond to the issues that we had. The washing machine did not work, but no one was able to rectify this whilst we were staying there: this was disappointing. The shower did not drain away: someone did come to assist, but this was not fully addressed, although it was usable after this. The bins were not emptied as the people staying before us had not placed their refuse in the right places. There seemed to be a lot of small moths, something that our 7 year old didn't like.

Nice, homely cottage but our dog would have loved some grass at or near the cottage

The Isle of Portland is magical. It's like a bit of a different Harry Potter view of things mixed with the earthy elements of hobbit life. Initially we felt a shock element as the island has battled against the weather for its Jurassic heritage and the narrow lanes and sheer heights basically made us cautious. A day or two later we had acclimatised. We had a great time and would have wished for a few extra days. A quick comparison with a hol we had taken with a leading provider in Crete last year proved no comparison - Portland no 1. The cottage provided everything you could have asked for - excellent location - toilet paper to dishwasher tablets provided - and all very cheerful. And interestingly a 200 year old but in very modern spec cottage that put you back in the Islands history but provided current creature comforts

The Owner (a very pleasant Lady) greeted us with a telephone call before we arrived giving us all the necessary information for our arrival, she later rang us in the cottage after our arrival to check that everything was ok and to give us information about local facilities. The Cottage was very clean, warm, cosy and larger than it looks in the photo, well located on the Isle of Portland, lovely places to stroll nearby though a few steep hills needed to be negotiated. Parking is not as difficult as some have said, I managed quite easily even though I drive a very long estate car. the road it is situated on is quite narrow and steep but a competent driver should not have a problem. Overall a very pleasant cottage to spend a holiday in.

We use this cottage as a base for visiting family on Portland rather than as a "holiday" but for either purpose the cottage is ideal. It is within easy walking distance of the eastern end of Chesil Beach and a good pub (for food and beer); a local, late opening convenience store and a good fish and chip shop, Indian and Chinese takeaways (for those days when you simply cannot be bothered to cook). It's location is a little awkward on a single width, one-way and steep road (parking is not for the faint hearted) but this is more than compensated for by having very little foot or vehicle traffic passing by. The cottage is clean, warm and well equipped. The kitchen is adequately sized for the 2 of us but we struggled to find storage for food supplies etc. We have stayed here 3 times now and will continue to rent this cottage whenever possible - we like it that much that our family visits are actually determined by it's availability.

We enjoyed our stay and the photos on the website don't do the property justice. There wasn't really enough wood for the 1st nights fire as it only lasted around 1 hour. We would definitely stay again.

A lovely cottage - the photos on the website really don't do it justice. Handy location for shops, pubs and restaurants and so close to the lovely beach. Very comfortable - we will definitely be back.
