Charming cottage in a rural setting yet only 3 miles from Inverness

Old Post Office House is a charming traditional cottage amidst open countryside, yet is just 5 minutes drive to Inverness. Surrounded by its own delightful cottage gardens it offers peace and privacy whilst being easily accessible. All rooms are generously proportioned and many of the original features have been retained, including original cottage doors, high ceilings and deep silled windows. The large lounge/dining room is warm and welcoming with feature wood burning stove and pretty colour coordinated soft furnishings. There are two generously proportioned bedrooms on the first floor and a large family bathroom on the ground floor. The dual aspect kitchen looks out across the gardens. Lined with trees and mature flowering shrubs with lawns and borders, the gardens are totally secluded and a real delight. A small sun porch at the front of the cottage provides an ideal place to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine whilst admiring the views across open countryside. The cottage is situated down a quiet lane in the small hamlet of Artafallie.  This location is popular with walkers and cyclists attempting the ’John O Groats to Land’s End route whilst avoiding the busy trunk road. There are some lovely walks direct from the property.

We really enjoyed our all too brief week here, it had everything you could need if you wanted a nice and quiet break. We felt very relaxed and comfortable right from the very beginning. We loved the log fire , particularly after a long day out exploring . The bed was nice and comfy , not hard or lumpy . Nice bathroom with a bath and a really good shower, nice and powerful. The greatest asset has to be the gardens from and back where you can see the abundance of wildlife scurrying and flitting around and about every day. Such a wonderful place to rest and relax , very cosy and has a very calm feeling about it too. We would really love to return here and stay for longer next time.

This cottage was clean and very comfortable. Milk, Tea, Coffee and biscuits were left, which was nice. The beds were lovely and we all slept well. The only down side was that the twin beds could not be linked together, as advertised. But lovely and comfortable just the same. The location was perfect, close to Inverness , and central to get to many attractions. It was rural and quite quiet despite being close to a busy road. We saw a pair of Red Kites on quite a few occasions, which was fantastic. Just a very small criticism, a bigger freezer would be useful. Also maybe a tumble dryer, but this is really nit picking.

A lovely clean and comfortable cottage, and when inside lovely peaceful. However it is next to a very busy road, which at times was a bit hard to get onto.
