Description

A large detached mansion with open fire and cinema room. Ideal for large gatherings and special occasions. Wonderful views towards the coastline.

Situated between Harlech Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the world class Royal St Davids links golf course, Noddfa has beautiful views of both and the sea beyond. The current detached mansion has a history dating back 250 years, and was protected by the castle garrison. However the distinctive frontage of the house was added in 1850 by Samuel Holland MP and retains much of the Victorian character and splendour, with high ornate ceilings and a bell tower. The fully refurbished holiday accommodation comprises entrance hall, dining room with table for 20, a large drawing room with views over the links, cinema room, large farmhouse kitchen and cloakroom. On the first floor there are five double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and one bunk, all of which are en-suite. Charming gardens surround the property with ample parking. Harlech is an attractive town with a theatre, a magnificent sandy beach with bathing and good restaurants and shops. Portmerion, Ffestiniog railway and Snowdon are all within a short drive. The dearth of stand up showers and the poor "in-bath" showers was a minus. Equally, the breakdown of the second dish washer was unfortunate. However, the location was excellent - beaches, dunes, walking, variety of eating places etc in Harlech itself - and we all enjoyed our stay. I do not possess a camera!!

Good overall. Nothing bad to say about the property. All was good and the two sponge cakes made by Linda was a great bonus. I just wish the weather was better. :)

We have just spent 3 nights at this beautiful house. I cannot stress how clean the house was. Everything was spotless. All linen beautifully fresh and I have never seen such a well equipped kitchen. We were still finding things when we were leaving!! Everything is perfect. Linda was so welcoming and a lovely hamper and delicious mince pies on arrival. The photographs on the Internet don't do it justice. There was 20 of us and we all loved it, what an amazing place x

What a great place to share with family and friends. We spent a week there at Christmas and it was beautifully decorated for the festive season. The owner met us on arrival and showed us around. The homemade mince pies she left us were particularly welcome. So many lovely rooms, some great views in a beautiful area , with lots to do for everyone. We would definitely stay there again

Although the general impression when entering the accommodation was of cleanliness, the kitchen floor soon turned pale socks quite black underneath and the dishwashers needed previous occupants congealed fat removing from the filters. The hob could also do with a good clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans but lacked a few basic implements such as an electric whisk. The location is wonderful, beautiful views. Even the notorious wet welsh weather didn't spoil us from having good days out enjoying the local attractions in the week we were there, all 12 of us agreed we could find enough things to do in the area to keep us occupied for a further week without getting bored. Bedrooms were all a good standard, lounge comfortable and inviting; and the table football provided us with hours of entertainment.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. How disappointed I was to read this review. That's the first time anyone has said the place is dirty. The floor is 18 century slate which is cleaned every changeover but doesn't matter what's used to clean it will still dirty socks. I can't believe the cooker comment either, it's fairly new 9 months and I clean it every time guests leave, same with the dishwasher. I am also disappointed about your comment on the lack of whisk, as I greet guests and farewell them, no word was mentioned to me on the lack of said whisk, if you had asked I'd have supplied one. All other guests always comment how well equipped the kitchen is.

We had a fabulous holiday, 14 adults and a ten year old, variously from York, Manchester and London, celebrating birthdays! The house itself is wonderful with stunning views. It is clean and very well equipped and Linda was very welcoming. Between us we visited, among other places, Snowdon (3 climbed up and back, 3 climbed up and got the train back and 7 were lazy and got the train there and back); Portmeiron (beautiful and slightly surreal); Harlech Castle; Harlech village; Harlech beach; Blaenau Ffestiniog railway; Zip World at Penrhyn Quarry (an amazing experience apparently, 165 kph, fastest in the world!). Overall the weather was kind to us and we all had a lovely and relaxing time.

As a group of 20 golfers this house provided everything we needed. Enough space for everyone to sleep and for us to dine as a group with plenty of space in both the lounge and drawing room for people to not get under each other's feet. This is the tenth time we've been away as a group and our main cook's comment was that it's the best kitchen he's ever used in any of the house we've stayed in. The locality to Royal St Davids Golf Club is incredible. We think it's a steady 5 iron access to one of the best golf courses in the UK. The weather was good and with sunsets over the coastline coming straight onto the front patio area the warm sunny evenings were stunning. This is one of the best houses we've ever stayed in and if we return to the area, staying here will be an absolute must.
