Absolutely lovely! With views to die for, clifftop walks virtually on your doorstep, a roaring wood-burning stove, and even local spring water from the taps, I'd imagine only the very grumpiest holidaymaker wouldn't enjoy staying at Meadwell. The situation of the cottage is stunning: set back about a 5-10min walk from the cliffs and a mile or so from the pretty Trebarwith Strand down in the cove. If walking is your thing then this cottage is in the perfect location. The two other cottages in the complex are right next door, and the entrances are all grouped together in a mini courtyard. If you're after total isolation this might be an issue, although we were quite alone during our October stay. Worthy of note is that the cottage is on a working farm. The owners will give you a brief but friendly welcome and then just leave you in peace to do your thing as they get on with their everyday lives. Meadwell is actually much warmer and cosier than the very wide-angle brochure photos make it look. However it doesn't feel at all cramped and is easily big enough for two. The living room has a wood burning stove, although we didn't use it a lot because the central heating was quite hot enough. We certainly felt very snug! The bedroom has amazing views of the headland and out to sea, and the bathroom is modern and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is very functional, and maybe not exactly state of the art. But it's very clean and will happily see you through your holiday cooking. It does have a dishwasher (yay!) The kitchen leads out onto a small and private courtyard, ideal for summer evening drinks... There are two TV sets - living room and bedroom. It seemed a bit overkill but I guess to some people that's important. To be honest more important to us would be some kind of internet connection. Is it too modern to say that we'd have been very happy watching whatever, wherever on our iPads rather than being limited to a tv? In summary... a gorgeous cottage in a stunningly beautiful location. We'd love to go back some day.

A bit draughty this time (we had better weather last year when we stayed here) so we were glad to have the log fire. I think perhaps it's time for a new mattress, we both suffered with restless nights and backache. Unfortunately the people staying next door parked their car in front of our patio doors and blocked our sea view all week! Otherwise Meadwell is a beautifully appointed cottage, very clean and cosy.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, glad you appreciated the fire, February can be a bitter month! Since your last visit we have replaced the mattress in the cottage as the springs had started to go, so we think this mattress is probably a little firmer due to it being new, the other one had probably softened up somewhat due to its age & maybe you prefer a firmer bed. We are pleased that you enjoyed your time at Meadwell and hope to see you again soon!
