Good holiday cottage. Nicely furnished. Larger than expected. Cottage is the larger building on the left of the photo (not the small extension on the right) and includes own private drive. Great location. Would stay here again.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review and rating of 8 out of 10. We are pleased that you thought it was a 'good cottage', 'nicely furnished', larger than you expected and that you would 'stay here again'. We look forward to welcoming you once again to our cottage or perhaps you would be interested in staying at The Manor House which is also 4 star and accepts pets. Two wonderful places to stay in a stunning location.

Manor Cottage is a stunning cottage in a peaceful and beautiful location. The addition of a Christmas tree, complete with lights, was a great touch and enhanced what was already a very welcoming feel. West Pentire is great for dog walking and having the beach so close at hand was a real bonus. We catered for ourselves, so didn’t eat at the Bowgie Inn or CBay Bistro, but I understand that the former does not allow dogs. Only three very small negatives to mention which may perhaps improve the experience for other holiday guests: there were only four teaspoons and no bottle opener in an otherwise very well stocked cutlery drawer and it would have been very useful to have some washing-up liquid. Fortunately we had brought a couple of dishwasher tablets with us, otherwise our dirty pots and pans would have been left until we went shopping on the following day. As I said, these are very minor negatives and did not detract from a wonderful holiday experience. Finally, the beds were extremely comfortable and if we hadn’t had to take the dog out early we would have probably slept in much longer!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are delighted with your rating of 10 out of 10 and your review that The Manor Cottage is 'a stunning cottage in a peaceful and beautiful location '. We are glad you were pleased with with the way we had decorated the property for Christmas. Both the cottage and The Manor House (next door, which sleeps 13 and also accepts pets) are popular properties to stay at during the Christmas and New Year period as well as the rest of the year. I can confirm that the headland ( owned by the National Trust) and the beaches either side of the properties are dog friendly and are great for walking whether you have a dog or not. The C-bay bistro/cafe across the road from the cottage does accept dogs and even provides water for those dogs returning from a beach walk!! Thank you for your comments regarding items in the kitchen. There were plenty of teaspoons in the kitchen but they are one of those items that tend to walk - I will make sure more are provided. There is a bottle opener in the drawer but a slightly unconventional one so I will provide a more conventional type of bottle opener that guests can recognise. Likewise we always provide a dishwasher tablet and washing machine tab for our guests so I'm not sure what happened on this occasion but I have asked our staff to be extra vigilant when checking the property before guests arrivals. We are very pleased that you felt you had 'a wonderful holiday experience ' and we look forward to welcoming you back.

This cottage has obviously been renovated and updated very recently. It is very cosy and comfortable and has been very tastefully decorated. Very good king sized bed with 'hotel' quality linen and towels.

We had a wonderful holiday at Manor Cottage, Crantock. The cottage has been beautifully refurbished/decorated and whilst having been modernized, still retains its character. Having holidayed in this location for over 50 years, we think that this is the very best holiday rental we have had here and we will certainly book this cottage for future holidays. We will also recommend it to family and friends. Thank you so much for making us so comfortable.

The cottage is immaculately furnished & equipped. However we felt it was on the small side for us & our two small dogs. The master bedroom is particularly small but the twin room does have a dressing table. There is only one lounge area and it was for us a bit cramped in the evening. The ceiling is very very low for exiting between the kitchen and lounge and my husband hit his head badly four times at various times during the week. There is a very small jokey sign above on one side but its all too easy to smash your head from the kitchen side as there are no warnings on the wall. Im 5'/4" & I had to duck carefully every time. The owner ought to improve this as my husband was in a lot of pain each time he forgot to duck. Outside is a paved parking area for a medium car. A very small grass area serves as a garden. However no sun loungers are provided so take your own. There is only a glass coffee table and small chairs. The cottage is connected to The Manor House and some privacy is lost throughout the cottage (kitchen window, bathroom window, front lawn area is overlooked by next door). Ventilation is weather reliant via windows. Access to local beaches is very good. The Bistro nearby is excellent. The Bowgie inn was not for us. Overall we felt it was a pretty, very clean small cottage, well updated as we read/discovered and indeed it has been done to a quite high spec.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review and rating. We are delighted that you found the cottage to be “immaculately furnished and equipped”. We are surprised that for a cottage you found one of the bedrooms small as it does house a king size bed chest of drawers and free standing wardrobe and in the double aspect twin room there is a large chest of drawers, fitted wardrobe, desk/dressing table and chair and plenty of room for a cot. The 16th century charming cottage is listed which does understandably restrict major alterations. The one low access you refer to between the lounge and kitchen does have a sign to remind guests to ‘duck’ but we are putting extra protection there. The two windows you refer to facing the direction of The Manor House have blinds which can be used if you wish to have complete privacy. With regard to your comment re ventilation - ’m not sure what other ventilation other than windows is appropriate in a Cornish cottage! As you and previous guests have stated the cottage is ideally situated in between two gorgeous beaches and has both The Bowgie and the C-bay bistro nearby depending on your preference. We are delighted that you feel the cottage is “pretty and very clean” and has been “well updated …. to a high spec.

Beautiful, just beautiful after the refurb over the winter. Location is stunning as always and there is a need for a few minor bits and pieces in the kitchen but other than that, fabulous, would we come again, damn straight we would!

    Response from:

The location of manor cottage is amazing, wonderful walks and scenery. The cottage inside is very comfortable and well equipped. But the outside was very disappointing with no views apart from blank walls which made a very closed in feeling.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review regarding our cottage. We are delighted that you feel the location of the cottage is "amazing" with "wonderful walks" and "wonderful scenery" and that you feel the cottage is "very comfortable" and "well equipped". We are sorry that you feel the outside of the cottage is disappointing. As you can see from the website the front of the newly painted cottage where the large patio and small garden are situated is a sun trap which is why we now provide bi-folding doors from the lounge out on to that area. The internal pictures of the living room show the sunlight coming through those doors making the room light and airy. A pretty wooden gate at the beginning of the drive provides security especially for guests with young children and/ or dogs. Looking back over the reviews before and after the refurbishment all guests rate the location highly and as you are probably aware the view of Crantock Beach and the West Pentire headland seen from the beginning of the cottage's drive are probably amongst the best in the county. The Sunday Times has often rated Crantock Beach in its top ten beaches. We do hope therefore to welcome you back for you to once again enjoy, as you say the "wonderful scenery".

Fabulous.... a true gem of a cottage in a stunning location. The cottage has to be the cleanest, high spec, comfortable cottage we've ever stayed in. It was just perfect for us. The refurbishment is very good and was a WOW moment as we walked in. We can't wait to go back and stay again. We've visited crantock every year for 10 years and never stay in the same place twice but this is going to be an exception. I think we've found our forever cottage :) Location is ideal, minutes to the costal paths, round the corner from the pub ( I didn't hear any pub noise) good secure parking. I could write all day about how amazing the cottage and location was! Thank you for a fabulous holiday

We are delighted that you feel it is a "true gem of a cottage" and we and all our guests would agree with you that it set in a "stunning location". We have worked hard with the refurbishment so it is pleasing to us that you feel that the cottage is the most "cleanest, high spec and comfortable cottage" you've ever stayed in. We are so glad you had a fabulous holiday in what we feel is a very special part of Cornwall.
