Low White Stones is well designed for walkers with slate floors where they are needed and that all important space to dry off wet clothing after a rainy walk in the fells. We have stayed there twice now and would stay there again. There are a few minor maintenance things that need attention but overall it's a great place to stay.

we really did enjoy the old style cottage, for me the open fire as opposed to a log burner was the best part. I have seen many 'old cottages' but they are too modern inside. Low White Stones was small and cosy as well as being close to the town and to the best pub which is the Golden Rule. Low White Stones is ideally placed for many good walks which start and finish in Ambleside. Our only reservation was the people walking about upstairs, but saying that we would be happy to return next year.

A couple of negatives sofa was very low and saggy, and the noise of people walking above was not good, needs some more insulation. Golden rule pub round the corner, great beer ,no music lovely place , eating, White horse Sunday lunch good ,Old stamp house fantastic
