Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

This holiday barn is ideal for a couple who wish to explore mid Wales and the array of visitor attractions nearby.

Lying peacefully in a rural location and just a stone’s throw away from the dramatic Ceredigion coastline, this row of traditional Welsh holiday barns (refs OR3, OR4 and OR5) have been sympathetically restored to a high standard, making it a perfect touring base for couples looking for an adventure. Lluest Cottages have been tastefully decorated throughout and equipped with all the appropriate amenities for an unforgettable experience. Each cottage has its own enclosed lawn garden with a patio area where guests can sit, relax and unwind whilst watching the red kites soar over the magnificent scenery or enjoy the wildlife beyond the garden in the woodlands, fields and pond areas that are part of the property. The area itself has lots to offer, including fantastic walks along the Ceredigion coastline, famous for its horseshoe coves, Iron Age settlements and sandy beaches, where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! The picturesque harbour towns of Newquay and Aberaeron offer unblemished beaches, restaurants, boutique shopping and art galleries that are waiting to be explored. Away from the coast, Ceredigion’s countryside is just as promising, with an array of charming market towns and historic castles dotted around the county. For an adventurous day out, take a short drive to the rugged Cambrian Mountains and explore the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, which flourishes with wildlife and the historic ruins of Strata Florida Abbey, which is one of Wales’ most important historical sites. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with electric fire and spacious galley-style kitchen area with tiled floor. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed, arrow-slit windows and en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet.

The cottage is just ok, nothing special. The grounds around the cottage are not good, disused, rusty cars and cement mixers. The cottage garden is a small grassed area with six foot high fencing, to be used as a dog toilet, no views, no red kytes to be seen. There is nowhere to walk dogs other than a short path or the main road. The "pond" appears to be a disused slurry pit. Overall, very disappointing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We were very sorry that you had to leave after only 3 days due to family circumstances but are surprised at your comments. The guests who left the morning of your afternoon arrival gave us an overall rating of 9 out of 10. Other guests have liked the fact that the garden is enclosed as it means their dogs can go out there safely without fear of them escaping as I’m sure you found helpful with your own 2 collies. It was also mowed and strimmed before your arrival and we know the previous guests had left it perfectly clear. I’m afraid that as far as the wildlife is concerned we have no control over when the kites may or may not fly over. As you were told upon arrival there are 2 fields (approximately 10 acres including 6 wildlife ponds) that you could walk the dogs in and the “main road” is a single lane unclassified road with very little traffic serving only a few houses.

The cottage is clean, modern and well presented. It has everything you need for a stay and more. We were left a welcome pack of cheese, pickle, welshcakes and jam. There was milk, butter, tea, coffee and sugar available. There were bowls and biscuits left for the dog. The enclosed patio/lawn was perfect for our dog to run in and out in safety. The owners are friendly and on hand to help if there is a problem.

A very beautiful cottage where relaxation is come by quite easily, what a beautiful place set deep in the countryside. Very welcoming owners who accommodated my 4 dogs where 3 pets is maximum. Cannot wait to go back an get to sample the rest of the town as my 3 nights stay wasn't enough I just wanted to be there longer.
