Description

Tempting guests with its beams and wood-burning stove, this converted barn is close to castles, theme parks and sandy beaches.

Last Barn is a beautiful conversion of a traditional Welsh barn tucked away in rolling countryside within the Pembrokeshire National Park. This detached, secluded property is nestled at the end of a quiet country lane and was once part of Valast Hill Farm which dates to the early 19th century. Last Barn has been carefully restored to a high standard, retaining much of its original character.
Wonderful walks through Bosherton Lily Ponds and to the award-winning beaches of Barafundle and Broad Haven (part of the National Trust Stackpole Estate) are a few minutes’ drive away. A mile down a quiet country lane takes you to a permissive pathway across Castlemartin range and on to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Here is a stunning section of coastline featuring St Govan’s Chapel (a medieval church built into the cliff face) and, further on, the famous Green Bridge of Wales. Other nearby beaches include Freshwater West, which featured in a number of films, including Harry Potter, and West Angle Bay. The nearest pub, is award winning and is only 2 miles. The historic walled town of Pembroke is 3 miles away and features a magnificent Norman castle, famous as the birthplace of Henry VII.
The bustling coastal resort of Tenby is within easy reach and is renowned for its picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and pastel painted Georgian houses. It has a variety of boutique gift shops, traditional pubs, highly acclaimed restaurants, the Oakwood Theme Park and Manor House Wildlife Park (as featured on TV). Or take a boat trip to the historic Caldey Island with its Cistercian monastery and resident monks. Away from the coast, explore the rolling hills of Preseli and discover its ancient sites dotted along the rugged terrain, or visit the market town of Narbeth, with its antique shops, art galleries and numerous cafés and restaurants.
On entering Last Barn, two slate steps lead to a farmhouse-style kitchen with a large beamed and vaulted ceiling where you can enjoy dining with the whole family. Glass doors lead to a south facing private patio and garden where you can relax and enjoy alfresco dining. A large living room with a traditional wood burner in an inglenook fireplace, oak floor and exposed beams cater for cosy nights in. There is a bunk bedroom on the ground floor, double on the bottom and single on the top and a shower room with toilet and a bathroom with toilet. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with a kingsize bed and a twin bedroom. Separate stairs lead to another bedroom with a kingsize bed making this the perfect property not just for one family but also for two families or friends to stay at. Shops 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Barn is beautiful, however because it old it smells fusty and all your clothes are damp, despite having the heating on.. also, needs to be advertised that its right next to castlemartin range, so you have planes and bombs going off all the time, day and night!! But overall a really nice barn, could do with some finishing touches in some areas of the barn!! I.e. Bathroom and bedrooms.. also the tv is way to small for that room!! Another shower would be great too!!

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your comments. Last Barn is a fully modernised barn and does not suffer from damp. You were extremely unfortunate with the weather as September is normally one of the driest and sunniest months. Occasionally you can hear distant noise from the firing range although, personally, we barely notice it. Night time noise is extremely rare.

We had a fantastic family holiday, most of which stems from the superb accommodation at The Last Barn. We would definitely return.
