Description

Guests are able to go fishing on the Chelmarsh Reservoir and the River Severn from this holiday property.

Being at the heart of Shropshire, these beautiful holiday properties are set in the perfect location for a country retreat, and they enjoy wonderful views of Chelmarsh Reservoir. The Rookery (ref RGGQ) is an exceptional property designed specifically for holiday breaks, with its well-planned rooms and beautiful open views. All bedrooms are en-suite, and there is a large dining area and living room, as well as a separate gaming room to entertain. Kingfisher Cottage (ref RNN3) occupies an outstanding position overlooking the Severn Valley. The large family kitchen with glazed dining area overlooks the garden and outside patio area, whilst the spacious comfortable living room offers a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. The property has the added benefit of a ground floor en-suite bedroom, as well as five further en-suite bedrooms on the first floor. The gardens and barbecue area provide wonderful waterside views. They are very much geared for family groups and celebratory gatherings. Surrounded by the owners’ farmland, with footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes from the doorstep, these properties are the perfect country retreat. Another popular pastime in the area is fishing, which is available for guests of the cottages on Chelmarsh Reservoir and also on the River Severn (day permits can be purchased from local fishing tackle shops). Ideally located near to the historic town of Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley railway, with RAF Cosford a short drive away, the cottages make an ideal base for touring. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the hills of the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge are about 10 miles away, whilst there are many interesting walks from the door as well as numerous picturesque villages waiting to be explored. Further afield a great place for a day trip is the West Midlands Safari Park. Shops 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Large living room with wood-burning stove. Kitchen/dining room. Twin bedroom with zip & link beds and en-suite bathroom with toilet. Separate toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed, two additional single beds (for +2) and en-suite bathroom with toilet. Four twin bedrooms, each with zip & link beds and en-suite shower room with toilet.

We hired Kingfisher Cottage for a reunion with friends, everyone loved having their own bathroom and the lounge /dining area was ideal for our group of 14. Everything was clean and looked after, the lounge was cosy with a wood burner to add to the comfort. Overall this was a great cottage with a high spec and I would highly recommend it. The cottage is near Bridgnorth which was well worth a visit as is the severn valley railway.

A lovely place to stay with friends, all en suite rooms. Walking in the area is good, and the pub is not too far away. Had a lovely time, would like to visit in the summer. Thank you

This is a comfortable house in a good location with good walks and Bridgnorth near by. I think the rating of 5 star is too high and 4 star is more appropriate as there was not sufficient crockery for 14 people and a lack of kitchen knives, peelers etc. The most important point to mention was that the heating described as 'set by the management for comfort and to reduce the carbon foot print' was completely uncontrollable. Despite reducing the thermostats most evenings in cold temperatures over New Year we had windows and the patio door open due to the excessive heat. This meant that we could never enjoy the wood burning stove. The bedrooms were not warm when required then excessively hot upon going to bed. This is a good venue for a group but a shame about the heating.

Excellent accommodation with spacious en suite bathrooms. We had a few issues during the week which the owners are in the process of fixing. We would return and we were very impressed with Shropshire. Don't miss the Ironbridge gorge and world heritage museums.

The house was brilliant for a fun, family weekend. Great location, with lots of space inside and out for the children to run around. The house had everything you could want and need for your weekend, with a big table to eat around and lots of games and table tennis to keep everyone amused. The only downside is there is wooden floors everywhere, so whilst great for keeping clean it is a bit noisy upstairs. Would definitely recommend and would like to return.

Our group had an excellent weekend at Kingfisher Cottage. It's location is ideal for walking or travelling by car to visit the area. It is well furnished, clean and spacious with excellent bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom is very spacious with it's own sitting area and large bathroom. There is plenty to see and do in the area such as Ironbridge, the Severn Valley Railway and Bridgnorth itself. The owners are not intrusive but on hand if you have any problems or queries. A property that we will definitely return to in the future.

Kingfisher cottage is a great house in good location. It was clean and well equipped. It's great that each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The open plan tiled ground floor was great for the grandchildren with their Heelies and Didicar and just generally running about. The garden was good too. Two downsides: It is very noisy. The upstairs floor creak really badly and this is particularly bad for the occupants of the ground floor bedroom. There is building work going on - there is a huge house just being completed right next to the house. This looks great by the way and has the lovely view to the lake which Kingfisher would have had, but leaves Kingfisher a little overlooked and hemmed in.
