Description

Ivy Cottage is great for walkers as it is situated in the village of Chedworth where there are many footpaths to enjoy.

This charming 19th century, stone-built cottage, with oak beams and inglenook fireplace, has been sensitively restored to a very good standard, and is perfectly situated in the heart of the Cotswolds for exploring this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Upon arrival you will receive a welcome pack which includes a complimentary bottle of white wine. Set in a pastoral valley, Chedworth is a picturesque village, where you may see alpacas in the surrounding fields and gamboling lambs in spring. Unspoilt by tourism, it has many public footpaths in and around it, and lays claim to being the longest village in England. Nearby is Chedworth Roman Villa, and at just 15 minutes’ drive is the Roman town of Cirencester (Corinium), with its amphitheatre and museum, which has two superb mosaics. The beautiful market towns of Winchcombe, Stow-on-the Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden are all an easy drive away, and for a day trip, why not visit the Roman spa town of Bath; Cheltenham and its racecourse; Oxford’s dreaming spires; Stroud and its artists; Tetbury with its antique shops and ancient covered market; Malmesbury and its abbey, (the burial site of Athelstan, the first king of all England); and Bristol with its historic docks? Seven golf courses and seven riding stables all within 25 minutes. Farm shop 5 minutes by car. Shops 8 miles, 17th century pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams and tiled floors. First floor: 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, bidet and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freesat HD TV/DVD (BT sport package). Gas range. Electric oven. Microwave. We stayed in this lovely cottage for a long weekend. The village is very quiet with no local shops or other facilities but a good pub/restaurant very close by. There are lots of walks in the local area.

Fully equipped cottage. Well heated with the option of a wood burner. Excellent pub next door. No local facilities apart from a farm shop three minutes drive away. Parking would be difficult for anything larger than my Polo.

The only thing that would improve the cottage is a new three piece suite apart from that it is a lovely place to stay.

Beautiful cottage with absolutely everything you need for a fantastic Cotswolds break. Would definitely recommend this cottage if you're looking for a relaxing retreat. Not a huge amount immediately nearby - just one little pub down the road - but a great location for driving to the many villages and towns of the Cotswolds. A big thank you to Becky the housekeeper who was very helpful throughout our stay.

The cottage was in a lovely location with fabulous walks locally, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There was plenty of fuel for the fire, and the kitchen was well set up. The local farm shop is OK, but we did find some stuff was out of date. The food at the local pub was good, but a little fussy. Whilst we were there a lot of road works were going on in the village, which unfortunately made getting to the cottage difficult at times, and the parking was tight, but adequate. It was great to have a large bathroom, but we did find the bed a little uncomfortable, and the bedroom lacked a mirror for such things as blowdrying hair - although there is a large mirror downstairs. The Sky box is being used purely as free-view, so don't expect Sky when you see it.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Ivy Cottage and appreciate your feedback. We have now added a dressing table mirror in the bedroom. This is the first time we have received a negative comment about the bed, which has a top quality pocket sprung kingsize mattress. We are sorry that it did not suit your requirements.

We loved our stay here. It's a fabulous cottage with wonderful surroundings. If you love peace and quiet this is an ideal place to visit and explore the Cotswold. The cottage is extremely clean and tidy and very well equipped. The fire wood provided lasts for a day but due to the fact we were aware of this, we bought extra on the way which was perfect. I would highly recommend it and would definitely go back. It has such a warm and cosy feeling and is ideal for a couple.

A lovely cottage. If I were to suggest one area of improvement it would be to provide more firewood (or at least notify us in advance that you will only provide roughly 15 pieces for four days).

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your positive comments. We have listened to your views and now provide a larger stock of firewood. We also provide fire lighters and kindling wood.

A lovely cottage with lovely surroundings. Very cosy with the fireplace and cute kitchen, bathroom is lovely with a lovely large bath. Very clean and tidy with simple but not too plain design. Very quite location perfect for a getaway from the noise!

We loved our stay here. It was the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds. The little village is gorgeous and relaxing. It was good to have a pub just round the corner but the price of the food there was ridiculous (curry night=fixed limited menu=fixed expensive price). We loved Ivy Cottage though and had a brilliant break

A very well-equipped cottage in an excellent location, especially for walkers - there are plenty of footpaths in all directions. Two minor criticisms only: the lower kitchen cupboards smelt musty and the lighting wasn't too good (the sitting room lights tend to shine into your eyes and the bedside lights were no use at all - you couldn't possibly read with just them). These are only minor points and we were very comfortable and enjoyed our week.

What a fantastic holiday, it was my birthday treat from my partner and it was such a brilliant way to celebrate. The cottage we stayed in (Ivy cottage in chedworth) was beautiful and perfect in every way. The location was perfect for what we wanted and the cottage itself was extremely clean and had every single amenity and facility you could require. Just a shame that you couldn't use the fire as we stayed in January it would have just been perfect for a fire. But never the less the cottage was always warm and very cosy. If your looking for a reasonably priced weekend away in the middle of no where I would highly recommend this particular cottage!!
