Herons Rest is a cosy cottage located within a sparsely populated area with a small local shop nearby. We found the cottage to be everything we required. Being picky I’d say for us personally the pillows were too firm, we improvised with the spare duvet. Some things could do with replacing due to wear n tear, toilet brush, kitchen wooden spoons, kitchen tap leaks ruining the wooden worktop, the door lock was problematic, we had to leave the cottage unlocked, although remote for safety we took our valuables with us daily, lap top etc.. This has been mentioned in previous reviews but not fixed as yet. Eventually we discovered the knack in locking, push the handle up with a firm thrust, seems to do the trick. Use the electric boost button to heat water if more than one showering as the water may get cool. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed Herons Rest and would definitely go back. They just need to spend a little on replacing worn out fixtures and fittings as mentioned but that did not spoil our enjoyment in such a rural beautiful landscape.

The cottage was ideal for a get away from it all, the only comment I would make is the seating in the lounge is to low and not comfortable especially if you have leg problems and external seating would be nice with the grass cut to enjoy the garden, everything else was perfect

We really enjoyed our stay and it was great that the cottage was dog friendly, wooden floors all round meant that it was easier to keep things clean. The log burning stove was a brilliant feature and meant that we could hide away from the very rainy day we had midweek, making it cosy and homely.

We loved it at Heron's Rest and would definitely recommend it to friends. Our only suggestion is some cushions for the sofa which is not the most comfortable.

Cottage adequate for 2 but a bit out of the way 25 mins along single track road. A few basic improvements would make it a more comfortable cottage, i.e. a towel rail in bathroom and replacement water damaged work top and broken bottle holder on fridge door.

Wonderful dog friendly location! Possibly needs a little tlc and the addition of a king size bed would only make it perfect.. maybe a strimmer on the grass... all that said a wonderful spot it get away from it all and definitely a revisit for us!

We had visited the area before and knew it was quiet and secluded. The Heron's Rest cottage was exactly what we wanted to get away from it all.

Heron's Rest was an ideal cottage for us peaceful, beautiful views and warm and cosy after days out in stunning Skye. Everything was as described and despite warnings we found it with no problems. Local amenities are a bit sparse , especially prior to main season, but shop has all the essentials. Skye like to hide some of its gems so if the well known sites are busy, look for them, they'll be down a wee road with a wonderful vista at every turn.
