The house smelled very damp, like wet soil. There was mold in one room so we could not use it. There was mold on the ceiling in the entrance, the ceiling in the bathroom and in the skylight. The whole house smelled of oil from the the heating burner. Service in the cupboards were dusty and dirty. A really bad experience, will never stay there again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The property is a 200 year old Welsh coastal cottage. As you can see from previous reviews, our guests have been more than happy with the property and facilities. The heating and hot water had been on constantly from 7am to 9pm, and this over use could have attributed to any oil smell you are referring to at the property. The kitchen is bespoke and has wooden sliders that can cause slight dust to fall; the kitchen was cleaned prior to your arrival and was spotless. I am really disappointed with your comments as we did go the extra mile to provide towels at a cost to ourselves as you were travelling from abroad.

Fantastic holiday in Hen Ysgol with 4 adults, 4 kids aged between 5&10 and one dog. Much bigger than it looks from the photos and there was plenty of space for everyone - the table in the kitchen was big enough for all of us (the dining room only got used to play games in) and the two comfortable lounges meant we could spread out in the evenings. The huge garden was a hit with everyone and the kids loved exploring the nooks and crannys. When we eventually managed to pry them away, a pleasant 20 minute walk down the lane with the kids (or a 3 min drive) had us on the stoney beach, with a beautiful sandy beach just a little further. A fab, welcoming, comfortable house - perfect if what you are looking for is get away from it all and enjoy some relaxing time in great surroundings.

Excellent holiday. House lovely, although needs a bit of TLC. Transport a must as difficult to get around otherwise. Views from property amazing and there is lots of space. Took our dog but couldn't let off lead as would have got out - garden not entirely enclosed. Would definitely recommend!

3 generations of our family had a lovely peaceful time with plenty of space for us all.Garden is great for childrens games plus dog,the house is over generously stocked and the situation of the house is just what we wanted. Nearby there are secluded beaches ,great cliff top walks ,lighthouses to visit, fine dining, nice towns- everything for a great holiday. When can we go again please?
