Fantastic find. Loved the cottage and local scenery. Well looked after and furnished. Very comfortable. Ideal location for Alton towers and other local attractions. Will definitely be returning.

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for the positive feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and will look forward to seeing you again. Please note that the Jervis Arms (100 yards from Garden Cottage) has now re-opened having undergone complete refurbishment. It serves high quality home cooked food as well as a varied selection of wines and real ales - we have already visited it several times and can testify to the quality ourselves! It also offers a lovely riverside garden and welcomes dogs.

Beautifully renovated cottage with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. We had a warm welcome from Mike, the owner and he made sure we had no problems.

There were plenty of attractions nearby to suit families including caverns, National Trust, countryside, English Heritage and interesting towns and cities. We were busy most days and the cottage was well placed so that most visits didn't take too long, but even the journeys in the car weren't too bad with such spectacular landscape to drive through. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and well-maintained.

We had a lovely stay in Garden Cottage, the owner could not have been more helpful and the cottage was lovely. Well kitted out, comfortable and nice and warm. It is in a fantastic location for exploring the White Peak and the Staffordshire Moors. I would stay here again as there is so much to explore and the cottage is very good.

We had a great time and the owners were lovely, if we needed any thing we were able to go next door and ask them they were very willing to help. Lovely little cottage in a great area

We had a great long weekend staying at Garden cottage. The owner was very friendly and accomodating and wanted to do all he could to make sure we had a great stay. Local pub 50m down the road with real ale and regional cider was a real bonus.

We had a great holiday with our toddler and found plenty to do within easy drives for days out. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and clean. We would recommend this as a place to stay!

Ideal location (theme park for the teens, hikes for dog owners) with very comfortable beds, and the country café but a mile away. Great also for an off-grid experience (teens got in first and adults were left Wi-Fi less - same with the sofas!) Couple of tips - if use log burner, burn the logs at the back of the burner only; and ask for the guided tour of the cooker!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for the feedback. Firstly with regards to the comment about the Wi-Fi connection and 'off grid experience', this is the first guest in recent times to report any connection problems and we note that the teenagers in the party were online within minutes of arrival. To us this suggests a compatibility problem with the device rather than a problem with the Wi-Fi; we have an unlimited data connection. The cooker is a straightforward Britannia double oven range cooker for which we leave instructions and we feel is pretty easy to operate. Finally we note that these guests offered a score of only 6/10 for cleanliness compared to an average of 9.3/10 for recent visitors. We work very hard to ensure that our cottages are clean and comfortable and we feel disappointed by this score as it is well out of line with that given by all other recent guests. The cottage also offers central heating, new 40" smart HD TV/DVD as well as Bluetooth speaker, dishwasher, microwave oven etc. and having mentioned the beds are comfortable we are therefore puzzled by the low score for comfort and equipment.
