We had an excellent stay in this beautiful cottage. It was well equipped to a very high standard and was excellent for young children, safe with plenty of toys left there for us. Everything was of a really high standard and spotlessly clean, we would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Beautiful cottage, cosy and felt very much like home. Lovely owners, very grateful for the welcome gift of milk, bread and eggs. Peaceful and perfect location for exploring all of the Peak District. Fully recommend and will book again when coming back to the area.

Little gem of a cottage so cosy and homely, wonderful location for visiting Castleton / Buxton /Edale, spent the whole 3 days walking - spoilt for choice so many fabulous walks in the area. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you would need and more! I was amazed by the level of detail Jill had put into the cottage. Wonderful nights sleep after a long day of walking on new mattress! Will definitely be returning. A thoughtful welcome pack was much appreciated. Jill kindly popped by just to make sure everything was ok with our stay which was thoughtful. The location is rural as described so you would need to drive to local attractions / eateries.

This was a lovely clean little cottage. It was a little too far from any amenities for us. The only local pub food was not good. There was no local shop for supplies without getting in the car.

The cottage was lovely, and Jill ensured we had a warm welcome when we were delayed by car trouble, the fire and lights were on to greet us! The cot, high chair and toys made things easy and meant the little one was happy. We would highly recommend x

A very welcoming cottage with all the extras needed for a relaxing holiday, made very welcome by the owner. Lots to see nearby, amazing scenery all around.

The cottage was easy to find and very clean and tidy. The equipment was modest but serviceable. We had anticipated a local shop but the one in the village was closed and had apparently been so for some time. The local pub, a moderate walk away was very disappointing, the food was basic and unpalatable and the beer (Theakston's bitter) was sour and showed signs of being "off", when we visited on the Friday evening shortly after opening time, 6pm. We were also alone, which said something to us. The absence of Wi-Fi, not the fault of the owner of course, was also a bit of a handicap. Overall, the holiday was quiet, pleasant and not unrewarding as we travelled around the area widely and found lots to see and do. The only other point to make was that the second bedroom was very tiny. Perhaps we would look for a more centrally located cottage for our next visit.

    Response from:

Response from the Owner; We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your stay at Forest View . Unfortunately the cottage is not advertised as having Wifi because presently that is not available in the village due to distance from a cabinet. The second bedroom is small and that is why it is described as for a child under 8 years only. Thank you also for the list of suggestions for improvements to facilities at the cottage which we appreciate.

Delightful cottage, with everything one could need (and more!), in a pretty, peaceful, easy to find, location within easy reach of local villages, towns, tourist attractions and breathtaking scenery. We were enchanted with the "little touches" in the cottage, which made it a home from home, and the "welcome" pack of bread, milk and eggs, plus the flowers, was a charming gesture from our friendly and helpful hosts. Thank you Jill (and David) - we look forward to staying in your lovely cottage again some time - we will certainly heartily recommend you to any friends or family who want to visit your beautiful part of our country. xx

The cottage is very well located and the owner has made an excellent job in providing everything you could possible want from a short stay. From the detail in including touristic guides, through to a description of the supermarkets/facilities around the property to the inclusion of milk, eggs and bread on the fridge finishing with dish soap and a well equipped kitchen this cottage is perfect for you to properly enjoy the weekend instead of having to worry about forgetting to buy something. We will definitely be back

Stayed for four nights, the cottage was warm and comfortable. The only fault we found was that there didn't appear to be a handle for the grill pan (used an oven glove). Some nice walks from the cottage door.

We were very unfortunate because we picked a weekend that was completely obliterated by the weather. However you cannot fault the cottage itself. The fire was on when we arrived, the kitchen had a welcome selection of staples that supplemented our own purchases perfectly. It should be noted the second bedroom can't contain anything else other than the bed. So if you think you can place the cot in there then you will be disappointed. However the cottage is very well set up if you have a little one (our little lad is 16 months old) . We took advantage of the toys and books that are kept out of the way in the airing cupboard which helped a great deal when you consider the weather meant we had to stay in more than we planned.
