Forest Cottage is surrounded by a renowned area full of rich wildlife, from deers, otters and eagles.

"Stunning locations in breathtaking scenery..."

In a magnificent setting by the sea, Ardmaddy Castle sits in its own bay with unrivalled views over Seil Sound and the world famous local Slate Islands, designated one of Scotland’s National Scenic Areas. Graded ‘4 Star’ by the Scottish Tourist Board, these four cottages (SBZ, SRW, SRX and SRY) and Caddleton Farmhouse (UNP) are set in secluded, peaceful locations around the estate and offer an ideal base for exploring this stunning part of the West Coast of Scotland.
The castle’s spectacular gardens are open all year round through Scotland’s Gardens Scheme and are a delight for gardening enthusiasts. The area is renowned for its abundant wildlife with porpoise, dolphins, basking sharks, otters, deer, eagles and wealth of seabirds often seen. Sailing, rowing and motor boats are all available for guests to hire, and there is free fishing on Ardmaddy’s stocked hill loch. There is also a central games room with table tennis, darts and a pool table, whilst Caddleton Farmhouse (UNP) and The Stables (SBZ) have their own games room. Guests can also use the castle’s tennis court.
The bustling harbour town of Oban known as the ‘Gateway to the Islands’ is only 12 miles away and has wonderful seafood restaurants, shops and bars. From Oban there are boat trips to the Inner Hebridean Isles, including Mull, Iona, Staffa, Colonsay and Tiree. For the outdoor enthusiast, local activities include horse riding, coasteering, canyoning, canoeing, sailing, diving and golf. Fort William and Glencoe are a short drive away offering very popular climbing and skiing. Explore beautiful gardens and ruined castles in an area rich in historical legacy or take a leisurely walk or cycle along one of the many forest tracks. Visit Bonawe Iron Works, Cruachan Hollow Mountain, the Sealife Centre and Inveraray Jail. Or relax and enjoy the unspoilt natural beauty surrounding the cottages at Ardmaddy. Shops 12 miles, pub/restaurant 2½ miles.

Prepared to Visit Scotland ‘4 Star’ standard, this spacious, single-storey cottage nestles just below the castle and overlooks a grazing field leading to Ardmaddy Bay. Entrance porch leading to shower room with toilet. Spacious modern kitchen/dining room. Comfortable, light sitting room with open fire. Twin bedroom. Double bedroom with 5ft bed. Amazing location and very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Lots to do in the area but many walks straight out of the front door and on to the estate.

The most annoying thing was the WiFi. The WiFi was nothing except a WiFi signal only. All I mean to say is if you want to browse the yahoo website which a basic it will take at least 3 minute to come. The funny thing is that you will not get any mobile signal. I understand may be the location can take this responsibility. One other hand the cottage owner should increase the WiFi speed rather than 10gb per month from BT or make the landline phone free of charge For the on coming guest, who don't know what they are facing.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback, although we are somewhat disappointed with your score in comparison with our other and usual high scores. We work very hard to maintain and equip our properties to enable our visitors to enjoy a stress free holiday, and we do welcome all constructive feedback in order to maintain our property and service to its highest standards. As you arrived at 4am I was not available to greet you on arrival, but I did leave you a note to welcome you and ask you to contact me if you had any questions or problems. I heard nothing from you and although I called on you a couple of times over the next two days, I was unable to make contact with you in person until the morning you were due to leave. When I finally caught up with you on the Thursday morning to say hello, and just check you had had a good time, if everything had been okay, and if you had had any problems with anything, your main complaint was regarding the weather and no comment was made at that time about the Wi-Fi signal. I should point out that I regularly check the Wi-Fi in all of the cottages and on the days prior to your arrival, the signal was good and fast. I do wonder if your devices were perhaps trying to connect to your own server rather than our hub. This would certainly give you a poor connection as it is true we have no mobile signal in this area yet. We do hope this will be provided soon. The land line phone is provided for visitors to use with a polite request for a contribution towards calls. We are only too pleased to help out with any problems as soon as we possibly can and if you had contacted me, or another estate worker, we would have helped you as much as possible. When you departed some 4 hours later than the advertised departure time unfortunately I found the property to be left in a most unacceptable condition which required extra cleaning and airing to make it acceptable for our next visitors.
