Really comfortable stay for a party of 10 adults, a lovely rural setting - heed the warnings of the low cloud on the fell we had a couple of hairy drives, all fun though I guess. Some rooms nicer than others but upkeep must be hard on a large property as this. Kitchen is lovely and where we spent a lot of our time. Beautiul walking area and great restaurant Beswicks in Broughton - hot tub very nice could do with being undercover as it was raining during our stay. Great peaceful group getaway we would definitely return.

a perfect getaway weekend for the whole family. Beautiful country side, village, pub and beach quite nearby. Everything you need is provided from fairy liquid to towels for hot tub! Very well equipped kitchen, massive table for family meals, warm and cosy AGA . Owners contactable and extremely helpful with nothing too much trouble. Family friendly, with standard cot and/or a travel cot, pet friendly, we kept the lounge with the log burner as a dog free room and the 2 dogs just used the huge kitchen and the 'snug' type lounge with the huge open fire. It is also a great base for walks. Cant praise the owners enough for going the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect!

Fantastic cottage on the edge of the fells, well equipped for large groups, we had 12 of us, and had plenty of space. The kitchen is the heart of the home. The cottage was comfortable and warm, and was a real home from home for us. A great base to explore the western lakes, but close enough to get grizdale and south lakes. Excellent local pub within easy walking distance but take a torch or two.

Me, me wife and 3 other couples stayed at Foldgate for the weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday and absolutley loved it. Set in an absolutely stunning part of the country this cottage offers the perfect getaway. Cottage had everything we needed including all kitchen utensils. Everyone who came with us all thought the beds were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of covers seeing as the weather was starting to get cold at nights. 1.5 mile walk to the nearest pub is definitely a trek over a dirt track so isn't ideal in wet conditions and definitely not recommended if you have a pram. Would definitely recommend Foldgate and will hopefully be looking to book another stay there just as soon as I can.

Foldgate was the perfect place for myself and my friends as we celebrated in the beautiful county side. The hot tub made the trip for us with the scenic views. With options such as nice walks and the coast not too far away makes it the ideal get away! Would highly recommend and would defiantly return

We had a large family group who felt at home with room to spare. It's a lovely farmhouse and we had a great week. The stream walk from the property is beautiful and peaceful. We did lots of catering for a large group and the kitchen was well stocked for that. The hottub is a real added bonus, specially when dark, looking up at the stars. We would book again without a doubt!!

We can't speak more highly of the property and the amenities on site, set out in truly breathtaking scenery! With a large two-tier west facing decking (combined with the hot tub) to the rear of the building, we sat out in glorious sunshine until 9:30pm. It was a surprise for my sisters 40th, and a special thanks to the proprietor Ian, who was a huge help in accommodating four of us with an early check-in, to enable us to decorate the farm with balloons, photo's, banners and bunting, ahead of my sisters imminent arrival!! The fell road between Duddon Bridge and Corney is spectacular, if not a little hairy and is a must, weather permitting. We'll be back!!!!! Thanks Rob, Kelly & family (Tyne & Wear)

Fab weekend break, suited our needs perfectly. Deco is a bit tired but in no way did it spoil anything about our stay! Don't want posh when 10/12 adults in and out of the house and hot tub.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind words and be assured that each room on the middle floor of the property is due for renovation this autumn. You should find it is still comfortable but a little fresher next visit. We hope you will return.
