Description

Steam enthusiasts will love this holiday property, with balcony overlooking the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway and Glaslyn Estuary.

This terraced holiday property enjoys views from the balcony over the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways with historic steam engines bustling off to either Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon. There are also superb mountain views and the delightful beaches at Black Rock Sands and Borth y Gest are only a few minutes away by car. The property is situated on the private South Snowdon Wharf Estate, on the site of the old slate wharves which the Ffestiniog Railway was built to serve, and has been upgraded and modernised to a very good standard. This makes a great base for exploring the area. Criccieth, with its castle, the Italianate village of Portmeirion and pretty Beddgelert are nearby. Visit Blaenau Ffestiniog, the adventure capital of North Wales, with the largest zip wire zone in the world, Bounce Below underground trampolining in a slate cavern, and the Stiniog downhill bike trails. Shop 200 yards, restaurant/pub 100 yards.

A door curtain or blacked out windows above the bedroom doors would have been useful as the light coming through the glass door into the bedrooms was a bit of a problem The weather was nice and it would have been nice to sit out on the balcony on furniture that was the same height and did not feel so unstable. Having said that we thought the cottage was delightful and ideally placed for our requirements. Clean, very comfortable and well equipped. We loved the areas and will be visiting again.

We had a great holiday, the cottage was ideal for our family of four. The arrangements for taking over and leaving the property worked perfectly. The location was really good with lots to do in the area to keep us busy.

We had a very enjoyable week in this comfortable and well-equipped cottage. The open-plan living/dining/kitchen area and the shower room and toilet had obviously been upgraded recently. The exterior would benefit from some refurbishment - front door and balcony area. It was good to have an allocated parking space right at the front door. The living area on the upper floor and the balcony leading from it gave excellent views of the Harbour Station (terminus of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland narrow-gauge railways), across the estuary and to mountains in the distance. Although the electric heating is programmed for specific times, one heater and the towel rail could be switched on at any time if needed. The bar/bistro at the Harbour Station, conveniently only a short walk away, is open every day and evening for food and drink. The high street with a variety of shops and cafes is not far away and there are three supermarkets towards the north end of the town, so no problem with shopping if you don't want to eat out.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. The rest of the refurbishment, i.e. front door, balcony, outside painting is being done this autumn.

Lovely house and views, very close to all amenities we had a great time, lovely walks nearby and plenty to do. A well equipped kitchen in general although we felt a baking tray would have been useful. We also felt a catch on the balcony door would have been useful to hold it open. Overall a nice place though.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay; I have now bought a baking tray and dealt with the balcony door so that it can be kept open.
