This property is part of our Cottages4you collection

In superb locations and beautiful settings. Cottages4you gives you a fantastic range of hand-picked properties with quality you can rely on.

Steam enthusiasts will love this holiday property, with balcony overlooking the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway and Glaslyn Estuary.

This terraced holiday property enjoys views from the balcony over the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways with historic steam engines bustling off to either Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon. There are also superb mountain views and the delightful beaches at Black Rock Sands and Borth y Gest are only a few minutes away by car. The property is situated on the private South Snowdon Wharf Estate, on the site of the old slate wharves which the Ffestiniog Railway was built to serve, and has been upgraded and modernised to a very good standard. This makes a great base for exploring the area. Criccieth, with its castle, the Italianate village of Portmeirion and pretty Beddgelert are nearby. Visit Blaenau Ffestiniog, the adventure capital of North Wales, with the largest zip wire zone in the world, Bounce Below underground trampolining in a slate cavern, and the Stiniog downhill bike trails. Shop 200 yards, restaurant/pub 100 yards.

We were surprised there was no visitors book to make comments. Patio furniture could be better - quite difficult to get in and out of chairs provided. All our previous cottages have had a welcome tray varying from the very simple to quite substantial and also provided the basics such as bin bags, toilet rolls etc.

A great location and a very comfortable and well equipped apartment. We had a wonderful week and wished we could have stayed on for longer.

The accommodation lacked: Information regarding emergency services, doctor, dentist, hospital. TV too small, wash hand basins too small. Shower leaked onto the floor. Wind and rain coming through front door. Draught coming through kitchen window. Patio door bolts need adjusting. Information re recycling bins inaccurate - could not be found on the estate. Nearest were found at recreation centre but only for paper and bottles. No personal contact throughout.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; It is a shame that reviews attract negative rather than positive comments and I hope that these things did not spoil your holiday. To answer your points: What a good idea to give emergency numbers, I will deal with this. I agree the TV is a little small and is on our list to change. I will be looking at the bolts on the balcony doors next time I go there and will also look at the Kitchen window as I had it repaired when I was there in the spring. Yes the wash hand basin in the bathroom is a little small but unfortunately, it can’t be changed now. The shower cubicle is a standard walk-in shower and the bath mat should soak up any water on the floor. I am surprised that rain and wind came through the front door into the hallway especially in the summer; there is a covered porch of at least 3 feet. I have been there in the winter and have not had this problem. The Recycling centre is in a large brick built shed located in the centre of the Wharf behind the notice board and is clearly marked Recycling. I am sorry that you couldn’t locate it and that you had to use the one at the recreation centre. With regard to personal contact, I did write to you personally confirming your holiday and giving you access instructions. If you needed to contact me during your stay I did provide you with my phone number. I live too far away to greet guests personally.

Amazing views of the steam trains, distant mountains and the sea from the balcony. The cottage is well equipped for a small family and is easily within walking distance of the local shops, bus stops and park. The cottage is situated by the marina in Porthmadog harbour as well. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed here with two train enthusiasts - couldn't have picked a better place! Wonderful views from the balcony and even the weather was kind to us - rained on our last day only.
