With its own sauna, games room and children’s play area, this property is perfect for a family holiday.

This imposing Edwardian country house stands in its own garden overlooking sheep grazing the common at Goathland, whilst the views of moors and forest may be enjoyed from the west-facing terrace. Set in the village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is in an excellent area for walking – the North Yorks Moors steam railway stops at the village station on its journey from Pickering to Grosmont. Horse riding can also be found nearby.
Whitby (9 miles) is a picturesque seaport famous for its Captain Cook connections, where the cobbled streets and yards stand in the shadow of the Abbey, overlooking the harbour. The three miles of sandy beaches lead to the pretty coastal village of Sandsend. Robin Hood’s Bay (renowned as a bygone smugglers’ haunt), Runswick Bay and Staithes are all worth a visit. Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. This is a large, comfortable house in a great location and ideal for extended family gatherings with its range of entertainment facilities to satisfy all ages. We had a few minor issues which did not affect our enjoyment but did suggest that perhaps a little more time might be given to its maintenance. One of the showers fell to pieces as soon as it was turned on and the immersion heater didn't seem able to provide enough hot water for the spa bath; we failed to get the boiler to heat the water, despite various attempts by the more practical members of the family. We reported these problems which were hopefully fixed for the next visitors. It was also a little disappointing to discover that all the refuse bins were full (and smelly) and obviously hadn't been emptied for some weeks. However, these were minor irritations; it's a lovely house, good value for money and we'd definitely stay here again.

While i would like to say everything was lovely about Eversfield, there were a few ltems of concern i feel i should mention here 1/ there was a bad smell in a few of the rooms we soon found the source , it was the vacuum cleaner, i suggest that the filter be changed or cleaned more often , 2/ probably the biggest problem to my party was the hot water ,and although i had been warned by owner there was a problem and that the hot water would come off the immersion heater, i had not bargained for the fact some days we would have no hot water and others it was so hot that a female in our party scolded her arm 3/ perhaps a more miner complaint the rear garden looked unkempt and the grass had not been cut for sometime.

Had a great family holiday here for a special birthday. All ages enjoyed themselves and the Games room was especially appreciated. Bedrooms and living rooms were all comfortable and the view from the kitchen was outstanding. The weather was perfect. Even the family dog had a great time.

Great house, superb location. Very much a home from home with lots of extras - games room, sauna, log fire and swings, slide and trampoline for the young - and young at heart. A lovely place to relax and enjoy the panoramic views, surrounding countryside and fabulous beaches of Sandsend, Whitby and Staithes.
