OK- location is great but very small and badly laid out lodge. this is listed as a 2 bed for up to 4 people and can accommodate a dog- but we were only a party of 2 and a dog and struggled with space. no area to prepare food or store your things. it also situated adjacent to the site recycling bins -so be prepared to here the wine bottles being emptied every morning. we have stayed at this site before in nicer lodges.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are sorry that you were a little disappointed by your stay. We would encourage guests to ensure they have read the property description, where it highlights that it is intended for 2 adults and 2 children, due to the small size of the bunk room. There are a small number of different design lodges on the site. Many are identical to ours, and there are some larger, most likely more expensive properties for parties that need or prefer more space. Our lodge is one of the closest lodges to the communal facilities, and most people find this beneficial in terms of easily accessing the pool, sauna, table tennis and laundry room. We regularly stay at the property ourselves, and have not been disturbed by occasional recycling activity. However, we are sorry this was a problem for you and we will ask the site manager to monitor the situation and if appropriate, see if anything can be done.

Warm, cosy and snug, set in woodland. A wildlife paradise. Feels very private, yet is close to the swimming pool and sauna. Nice comfy bed and plenty of storage space in the room. Had everything we needed in the chalet. Good television and interesting books to read. Surprisingly roomy shower room and everything you needed in the kitchen. The dishwasher proved useful! Walkers and wildlife enthusiasts could stay all week and never need their car. The beautiful Loughrigg Tarn, known to Wordsworth, can be accessed from the top of the estate and there are numerous longer walks for serious hikers. The Talbot Bar, at Skelwith Bridge, is a short walk or car ride away. Excellent meals, very welcoming to locals and holidaymakers alike, and dog-friendly. Ambleside has everything you need including a good range of Takeaway food outlets. Should the weather not be so good, there are numerous other lakes and tarns nearby including Coniston Water and all the villages have lots of shops for visitors. Further afield, the unusual Dock Museum at Barrow in Furness, would keep children occupied on rainy day.
