fantastic location, well equipped, however.......the house was freezing cold on arrival-would have been nice to have the heating on, the fridge was switched off/smelly, there was an electrical fuse on the dining room floor, brick dust on the kitchen side (looked like a new fuse box had recently been fitted above) and the TV had failed its electrical PAT test bearing a sticker "unsafe do not use". After three days the sink blocked and the macerator threw dirty smelly water all over the kitchen, we used the washing machine once towards the end of the week and it leaked. On our final day we found two baking trays in a cupboard which were full of dirty water and bits of onion (we assume they are still there?). We go on cottage holidays every year and have never written a bad review before. We don't like to moan, so on the positive side...........We called the office staff on our arrival day about the TV and the Fridge (initially thought it was broken). The response was good and they went straight out and brought a new TV (albeit much smaller than the original); when we phoned about the blocked sink the lady on the phone was very helpful and the plumber was there in minutes. We gave up moaning after that as it's a bit of a drain when you are on holiday. On the whole it should be a lovely place and is well furnished but there doesn't appear to be anybody taking a personal interest in it so problems prevail. Have always stayed at places which are owner maintained before and won't stray from that again after this.

Very convenient area in peaceful surroundings. Home from home with all the comfort and amenities we all needed for our much needed break. Approximately 25 mins walk across the bridge and along the cinder path to Whitby centre. Good bus service and lots of attractions easily within a short drive. Right on the banks of the river Esk so lots of different birds to observe if you like that sort of thing. I went out for an early morning walk an to my surprise saw a small deer swim across the river and run right past me..... Wonderful. Robin hoods bay is absolutely stunning and well worth taking the time to visit. I would recommend the dreaming duck to anyone who wants a little peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby centre. It was a very memorable experience, so much so we would definitely return to Whitby again and would also stay at the dreaming duck for sure. Thanks to all that clean and maintain the property and helped make our stay the home from home experience it truly was.r
