Description

Spacious accommodation for 4 guests within easy reach of Swansea, Cardiff and the Millennium Coastal Path for walking and cycling.

Roughly equidistant between the north and south coasts of Gower, Three Crosses lies in Britain’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and forms the setting for these lovingly renovated, listed 18th-century properties which have won prestigious awards, namely the Lord Mayor Design Award, Wales regional winner for Built in Quality Design Award and the Gower Society Award. Originally comprising the buildings of the only farm in the village, they offer holiday accommodation of a very high standard, blending modern facilities with old world charm, have wi-fi internet access, and lie close to the 18th-century village pub serving good food.
Stretching from the pretty thriving village of Mumbles on the western edge of Swansea Bay, the south coast offers many opportunities for water sports, with beautiful sandy beaches further along the coast to the jewel of Rhossilli, and a 22-mile coastal path rewards walkers with some of the most stunning scenery in Wales. Taking on a more wild and rugged look, the north coast stretches from Llangennith along miles of deserted sandy beaches, and follows the Loughor Estuary. Beautiful walks abound in inland Gower, which boasts three Norman castles, and spectacular views of the north and south coasts can be admired from Cefyn Bryn – the spine of Gower. The Rhossilli Downs overlook the beach towards Worms Head – reached by a causeway at low tide. Home to 4 golf courses (one a few hundred yards from Crwys Farm), Gower also has surfing beaches at Llangennith and Langland, pony trekking and excellent fishing. For a change of tempo, the city of Swansea beckons. Home of Dylan Thomas, Swansea (with its cinema, bowling, indoor leisure facilities) has the largest indoor market in Wales and boasts an excellent maritime quarter containing the Welsh Maritime Museum, as well Plantasia. Travelling west towards the rugby town of Llanelli, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is a must for bird-watchers, and the Millennium Coastal Park makes an excellent cycling venue, leading to Pembrey Country Park, with woodland and 7-mile sandy beach. Further afield are Cardiff, Tenby, Dan yr Ogof Caves and the Brecon Beacons, with the Pembrokeshire coast also easily accessible. Shop 500 yards.

Adjoins The Dairy, with views of Gower countryside. Living room with electric woodburner, French door to garden, patio. Well-equipped modern fitted kitchen/dining room. Shower room and toilet. Wooden staircase (with child gate at top and bottom) to first floor: Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Beamed throughout.

Really lovely hosts, nothing too much trouble. Excellent accomodation. One of the most relaxing holidays we have experienced & intend to return shortly if we can. We havebeen on lots of cottage holidays and we think the standard here was the best we have been to.

The Granary is a delightful, comfortable and clean cottage that we would be very happy to go back to.

Nice barn conversion but elements need updating. House smells of dogs and walls too thin between Granary and Dairy

This was an excellent property. Owners very friendly and helpful - not that we needed anything! "Welcome Pack" superb. As we're both in our 70s, our only comment about location is that to get to the coast, it necessitated about half an hour's drive each time - but we knew this before booking, so it's not a complaint, simply that to come with younger family would not be our automatic choice. On getting to beaches, the walks and views etc were wonderful and well worth it. However, for us, it was so very comfortable and to have the garden was a great plus, even sat out there on several occasions in the sun (in March!!).

We stayed in the neighbouring Oak Barn in 2012 and were so impressed with the quality of it promised ourselves we would return and stay in one of the smaller properties where we could re discover The Gower. We weren't disappointed, The Granary is a real home for home, everything you need to make your stay comfortable and just such a beautiful property. Renovated to a very high standard.

A lovely cottage, which felt modern, clean and comfortable, but still retained some of the old world charm of the building that had been converted. There is a nice patio and garden out the back that catches the evening sun. There is a BBQ that is available to use and just enough lawn for our children (who are 6 and 8) to kick a ball about. The location was very convenient for exploring the Gower Peninsular and there are friendly pubs within walking distance and a good supermarket 5 minutes drive away. The owners were friendly and helpful.

It's a pity we're being asked to give this review 3 months after we stayed in The Granary - memories fade! However, what does stand out was the lack of sleep due to the 4'6'' bed having a 15 tog duvet in the height of summer and being on a slope due to the uneven floor. We didn't like the small garden being shared with the cottage next door as the occupants had a dog which did what dogs do from time to time. Although the owners cleaned up it's still offputting if you're having a barbecue. On the positive side the cottage was well furnished and very clean. Overall we had a very enjoyable week.
