Although the cottage is in an ideal quiet location it is rather dated.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Having contacted this guest personally, I gained the impression that a more modern property would have been preferred. Although the cottage is equipped with all modern facilities and comfortable furniture. the decor was purposely chosen to create a cosy cottage atmosphere. This has been greatly appreciated by previous guests.

We really enjoyed our holiday. People very friendly. Food was reasonably priced.Weather was lovely - not too hot! It should be made clearer that the access to the cottage and the parking was not easy.

The cottage was in need of a little updating. The kitchen was rather worn, the units especially. Not sure about the bathroom wallpaper which was coming away from the wall at the edges. Also a blind in the bathroom would probably be a little more hygienic than curtains next to the loo! The main bedroom was probably the nicest room in the cottage.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; As the owner of Columbine Cottage I strive to maintain a high standard as appreciated by previous reviews. In response to this review, I would like to point out that the following kitchen equipment is only 1 Year old, namely the cooker, fridge, microwave oven, hot water jug and toaster. Regarding the wallpaper in the bathroom, I suspect the changing hot temperatures are responsible and I will address this problem when I will be in the cottage in July.

We had a good holiday staying in this cottage. Ideally situated for exploring Ross on Wye and the surrounding area. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The only niggle was that the small garden was not really enclosed so the dog had to remain on his lead. The reason that we would not stay here again is purely that we always holiday in a new area.

Warm, cosy cottage very close to town & river. Seats & beds very comfortable. It's at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac so you need to be a competent car driver. The "enclosed garden" isn't fenced off so it's not very secure for pet dogs. Apart from that, it's a great base for exploring the area

Excellent location for shops & local river walks. All equipment in the cottage worked well and the storage heating was surprisingly effective for a chilly week in November. The negatives were: 1) lots of woodlice, especially in the carpets downstairs and on the stairs 2) Several local English heritage sites and forest car parks were closed during our stay in Nov. We should have investigated this more, but it meant there was less to do than we'd hoped.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Referring to the only less positive comment about my cottage made by this guest, I will immediately take steps to remedy the problem and prevent a reoccurrence.
