Thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. Would have been even better if I had had my dog with me but she sadly passed away three weeks before. Now have another dog so hope to return with her another time

Had a wonderful time at cockershell cottage it was great as a main base. Loved walking around the harbour and along the seashore, the nature reserve walk was excellent. Went to St Bees and Workington, Keswick and Conniston. The walk at Conniston was especially good and The Crown does the best fish finger sandwiches we have ever tasted. We shopped in Millom and found everything we needed.

The Cottage had a pleasant outlook, and the open plan living/kitchen area was comfortable. However, the quality and condition of the fittings was generally poor, apart from 2 comfortable leather sofas. The downstairs bedroom was very basic and the downstairs shower room was very poor; the toilet flush was not working properly and we had to use the second floor toilet for a lot of the time. The water was constantly running into the pan and eventually we had to turn off the water supply to the downstairs w.c. as the noise of the running water was annoying. The shower was very small and the tray slippery, the floor coverings were in poor condition in both bathrooms. There was also a lot of evidence of damp in the downstairs, including on the blinds in the main bedroom and mould in the shower cubicle.

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your feedback from your stay at Cockleshell cottage. I have only recently acquired the cottage and some of the things you mention are on the 'things to do' list' when the season is over in particular updating the bathroom flooring and checking the sea facing bedroom wall. The downstairs shower is actually quite new but in the light of your comments I have replaced non-slip mats both inside and outside the cubicle. It is a pity you only mentioned the toilet problem on the last day of your visit as we could have called the plumber earlier as he took only a few minutes to rectify it, but thank you for turning off the water supply. I'm sorry it spoiled some of your enjoyment of your holiday.
