There were only the bare necessities, not enough cutlery, plates and no bottle opener. Outside light did not work

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that this guest was not entirely happy during his stay. The kitchen area is small as the photos show, and in order to provide a dishwasher and retain space for foodstuffs, we had to compromise on cupboard space. The cottage sleeps 4, but 6 of everything is provided, except for mugs, of which there are 12. We are sorry he couldn’t find a bottle opener and a corkscrew - perhaps a previous guest had replaced it in a less than obvious place?

We have stayed at Cockleshell six times now because we love watching and listening to the river and the tide coming in and going out. It is very restful. Walking the dogs on the outer seawall to the blocks and lighthouse is enjoyable with the variety of wildlife in the lagoon. Sue keeps Cockleshell in good condition and responds immediately if you have any queries.

Another lovely week spent at this lovely cottage. Everything is on hand if you don't want to drive anywhere, Mini supermarket, chippy, two pubs. A tesco in nearby Millom. Lovely walking, fantastic views from the lounge which is on the first floor. I can recommend the Harbour Hotel with its enclosed garden and friendly staff.

We absolutely loved this cottage. The views from the living room and main bedroom are 'to die for' and we were blessed with sunny weather all week. It was very clean and clearly well cared for. I would happily recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone!

Lovely cottage. Very comfortable. Bit disappointed with the location, lovely to be so close to the beach but the village itself left a lot to be desired. Just one little 'picky' point with the cottage - shower in downstairs bathroom needs some TLC. The shower head needs replacing or cleaning as there was no spray. Other than that it was perfect. Particularly liked the wine and nibbles!

One of the best cottages we have stayed at. Everything thought of and extras. Cosy, comfortable and modern, with a lovely view.

I didn't understand why people were saying not everyone's cup of tea but I do now. Personally I love this place and we would definitely go again. My dogs loved it as we did too, great location, lovely well kept clean accommodation. A little disappointed that I hadn't spotted it had no garden but it really didn't become an issue just meant the dogs were walked for every wee needed so they were very happy. Handy for the beach and close enough to the tourist areas of the lakes. Walking the dogs at 5.30 am was pretty special
