Lovely characterful old cottage sympathetically restored by Simon and Julie who made us very weclome and are extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage is very comfortable and has all required equipment.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property, so we obviously like it. The owners are very welcoming, helpful and generous. It is a great location for visiting Liverpool and many other places. It is on the flight path into John Lennon airport and we find the planes an added attraction. There are none during the night, so it does not cause a problem. Good pub nearby and a great park for doggy-walking.

Lovely garden, well enclosed for our small terrier. Cottage very clean and well equipped, perfect base for lots of places to visit. Plenty of doorstep walks too.

This is a lovely, comfortable cottage. The garden is well kept and ideal to both sit in and exercise a dog. The location is good, there are some lovely walks straight from the door and lots of places to visit just a short drive away. There are just three things we found against the cottage: 1. The wireless connection is poor which meant checking for places to visit was trickier than expected. 2. The Childe of Hale pub was always packed and not really very accommodating or friendly. However, the pub a bit further on (can't remember the name but it's a Marstons) is friendly and the food is ok. 3. I never met the owners, my partner did and they were friendly and helpful. However, I was a bit miffed that, whilst we were out, they'd been in the garden and set up a pirate display! Now I appreciate it's their property and we were just weekend renters, but it would have been nice to be asked, or even told, that they were going to be using the garden while we were out. But would we go back? Yes definitely!

We thought this quality accommodation and the owner was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our day in Liverpool; taking the convenient bus. We drove to Knowlsley Safari Park which we found rather depressing. We'd recommend careful preparation & fact finding (& plenty of time if you come from or go to Chester, as we had to for a wedding) as the nearby Runcorn Bridge is a nightmare to navigate due to complex road works. The only real difficulty we had was finding food. The pub next door served very average pub grub (frozen chips, unappetising burger), so we sough the 'chippy'. Harry's next night. Sounded positive, was a complete nightmare. One of those ghastly 100 item menus all over the wall. But anything we wanted wasn't on offer. In the end we left & tried the other pub on the way 'home', the Wellington. Dingy - kitchen closed 'love'. So our welcome pack was a life saver & subsequently the Co-op likewise.
