Part of traditional Welsh Chapel, with slate floors and beams, cosy, retreat for two, ideal walking country, Cors Dyfi nearby.

Riverside location

Nestled in the secluded valley of the Dulas, with the sounds of the river flowing through the two acre garden, peace and tranquillity are real features here. Slate floors, exposed beams and thick stone walls all add to the character and make for a romantic holiday hideaway. Jasmine Cottage and Honeysuckle Cottage form part of a traditional Welsh Chapel, dating from 1825. The owners live in the upper part of the chapel. Adjoining the property on the opposite bank of the river are oak woods scheduled as a SSSI, with paths that lead past a picturesque gorge with waterfalls and then on to the villages of Aberllefenni and Corris. It is ideal walking country, with easy reach of Snowdonia. Within half an hour’s drive are beaches at Ynyslas and Aberdovey. Closer still are the nature reserves at Ynys Hir (RSPB), Cors Dyfi (Osprey Project). The market town of Machynlleth and the Museum of Modern Art - Wales are worth exploring, as is the Centre for Alternative Technology just down the valley at Pantperthog. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Other people would probably rate this cottage much higher as essentially there is nothing wrong with it and the hosts were very amenable. However it was too remote for me, the besting didn't appear to work during the day (thank god for the plug in radiators and Internet was shocking, patchy at best, non existent during the day. I would strongly suggest that the owners get some boosters for the cottages as there is zero phone signal. That said it was very clean and the shower was better than it looked.

We love it here, the cottage is very cosy and it's in a great spot - close to Cader Idris and then in the other direction the Ceredigion Coast Path, or if you prefer, tucked away enough to completely get away from it all. The Slaters in Coris is a mile or so away which is a traditional pub that serves good beer and food. We'd have no hesitation in recommending or returning.

Loved our stay here . Peaceful , pretty and relaxing . The cottage was very homely and the wood burner was lovely . Surrounding area was full of wildlife and falling asleep listening to owls hooting in the distance was special . It's very remote but we wanted that get away from it all feel .

Lovely cottage perfect for a getaway. Very quiet and tranquil with lovely setting next to a river. The owners are very friendly and welcoming providing thoughtful little touches. Excellent if you want to 'get away from it all.' Already thinking about when to go and stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this romantic, tranquil, atmospheric cottage in beautiful surroundings. The supply of wood was helpful for the stove. The stream outside the door is special and the dark skies at night a wonderful contrast to the city.

It is a perfect idyllic location to get away from our busy lifestyles. Ideal for nature lovers with the beautiful gardens and river running below the property. Also, handy for local nature reserves at Dyfi Osprey Project and Ynys Hir. There is now a local shop and cafe in Corris run by Adam and Andy who are very friendly and helpful and you can stock up on fresh local vegetables and your other provisions.
