Ambleside is 6 miles away and has a pretty town centre with shops, galleries and tea rooms. We had a lovely weekend at the cottage to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday and my son's 21st birthday. The cottage was really comfortable and well equipted with everything needed. The location is outstanding and we had a great weekend.

Really cosy cottage in a perfect location, what more can you ask for? So well equipped for 10 people (only 8 of us) plenty of space for everyone, comfortable beds and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The Aga takes a bit of getting used to, but it made the whole house so warm and comfortable for when you return after a wet day on the fells. Cooking on it needs practice but persevere and it's fine. Good communications with the owner. Our age range was 10 to 73, everyone was comfortable had a brilliant stay at Brothersfield. Exceeded expectations and we will be back.

unbeatable location would love to return to Ullswater it's absolutely stunning. the cottage is cute and comfortable, perfect for our weekend. It was cheap when we booked as it was a few weeks in advanced but wouldn't want to dish out a lot of money as it is a little dated and right on road. that being said we all had the most wonderful stay and would definitely return.

Brothersfield Cottage provided a perfect place for our family to meet for a week of reunion involving walking, communal cooking, adults debating, and four cousins playing together. The warm kitchen with its big table which could seat more than ten comfortably was perfect for us, a party of three generations. The kitchen and the whole house was well equipped, clean and was very warm and comfortable. We greatly appreciated the fact that the house had been heated for our arrival. There is ample storage and drying space for boots and gear in the entrance hall and utility room and also a very generous and sensible rule about no boots past the door out of the flagged kitchen into the carpeted living room. The whole house was spacious and clean and a lot of good quality bedlinen and towels was provided including spares. We loved the view of Brotherswater and the convenient location meant that we could go for a walk straight out of the door. It was a great place for a holiday. Everybody in the party was really happy with it and we would be very glad to return.

The first thing we noticed on entering the front door was the SMELL of urine from the downstairs toilet. There was an overall feeling of DAMPNESS in the bedrooms and the bedding. The rooms were adequately sized but the whole place could do with a complete redecoration and TLC. The cottage is in a superb location and is a good size for a group.
