Beautiful detached house, ideal for larger groups of family or friends, with Royal St David’s Golf Course close by.

Ideal touring location

This delightful detached holiday property is ideally located for families, as it is a short walk from a 4 mile long sandy beach, one of the finest beaches in Wales backed by sand dunes, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Situated in Harlech, on the Cardigan Coast within the Snowdonia National Park, it is perfectly central for reaching the tourist attractions of Llanfair Slate Caverns, Shell Island, Portmeirion, Porthmadog, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway, and Coed-y-Brenin Forest. Harlech is also best known for Harlech Castle which dominates the town. The world renowned Royal St David’s Golf Course is opposite (the 2nd in Wales of the top 100 courses in 2013, and 43rd in the UK and Ireland’s top 100 courses also in 2013). Walkers, mountain bikers, climbers, and fishermen will find plenty to test their skills in the area, and for those wanting to travel slightly further, Snowdon, the Lleyn Peninsula and Betws-y-Coed are all an easy scenic drive away. There are excellent boutique restaurants in the town, (booking is essential in high season). Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Fabulous holiday for 12 Walking distance from the beach With an amazing Ice cream van !!! Well stocked shop at the end of the road Limited places to eat in Harlech seem to stop serving food after 8pm Property is spacious and ideal for families with large safe garden . When you arrive at your holiday destination, the first thing you are concerned about is the cleanliness and bedrooms. All rooms were cleaned thoroughly and all rooms were much larger than appeared online. All of this allowed us to relax into the holiday, and enjoy it from the first moment.

The only three things that let this beautiful cottage down was that the table wasn't big enough for our party of 10 to be able to sit round the table together to have any meals secondly there needed to be more crockery. And finally a better system for the rubbish, as the bins appeared to be empty every 3 weeks the seagulls had scattered all the rubbish over the drive and patio area before we arrived, we cleaned it once but within half an hour the seagulls had ripped open the bags again. Better storage is needed for the bins.

The property is in an amazing location and is large offering flexible accommodation but, apart from the lounge, the property was disappointingly basic and the standard of cleaning not great (cobwebs, smeary windows, greasy handles). The bedrooms were full of unmade beds and odd furniture, with no wardrobe in one large double (with bunk beds and cot). There were absolutely no frills, including no hand soap at any wash hand basin; there was also no information book about the property, equipment, areas, things to do etc. Having booked many cottages we have been treated to home made cake, biscuits, wine, fruit and/or fresh flowers on arrival but here there was not even tea, coffee or some fresh milk. The kitchen equipment was a mismatch of leftovers but had no bread knife, whisk or baking trays that fitted the side oven and a microwave oven barely big enough for two. Finally the crockery was also a mismatch, much of it chippd or cracked and not enough for a three course meal for five so twelve guests would have to have dinner in shifts at a table that only seats six. None of these issues were show stoppers but it was a real shame that with a little more effort and focus on the customer this property could be amazing.

Last weekend we (13) spent at this weekend. The best cottage for a group of 10 or more. Great Location, within a few minutes walk you have a Sandy beach (not a single pebble), Golf course and amenities. If your are lucky you can also see a few jelly fish on the beach, quite a regular sight. Highly recommended for families.

A lovely big house for a family holiday, with the right accommodation for our party. It was a pity that the dining provision was only just enough for 8 people, and it wouldn't accommodate the 12 people that is claimed for the sleeping arrangements. The location is great for children and dogs - just a short stroll across the sand dunes to the beach - and there is plenty of interest and activity if the weather is poor, such as Harlech Castle, Welsh Highland railway, Barmouth, Bounce Below (in the slate mines).
