We had a fantastic time here especially at 11.20am each morning as we waved the Jacobite train through the back of the cottage...a steam train fans dream. It was so exciting. The whole family from 77 to 3 yrs old joined in. The scenery is beautiful and you can walk down a track to the Glenfinnan Hotel on Loch Shiel shore which served a lovely lunch for us on our first day. We went on the Glennfinan viewpoint to watch the train over the viaduct, visited Oban (definitely worth it) Mallaig, which was small but lovely, Spean Bridge for the Commandoe Memorial and finally rode the Jacobite one day. Each day ended with a warm cosy return to this gorgeous cottage. We loved the wood burner in the sitting room although the central heating was nice and toasty. Nice big rooms, clean bedding, lovely big kitchen with farmhouse table...would highly recommend as a great base for the Western Highlands...particularly enjoyed dusk at the shore of Loch Shiel in the shadow of The Jacobite monument with the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct behind us while my grandson plodged in the water surrounded by magnificent mountains...perfect place, cottage and weather...

A great cottage, especially if your a steam railway fan. Very clean and tidy, very well equipped. Very good restaurant 200m down the road. The cottage is great base for exploring the western coast and islands. Ferry to Skye is only 30mins drive to Mallaig. The Ardnamurchan peninsula is must, watch out for single track roads, the views are worth the leisurely drive.
