Yorkshire Cottages

The Yorkshire Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Yorkshire better!

Description

Third floor apartment with sea views over Filey’s spectacular sandy beach, the chalk cliffs at Bempton RSPB closeby.

Located just 50 yards from the spectacular 5 mile stretch of sandy beach, this one bedroomed holiday apartment is comfortable and well-equipped. Almost untouched by the hands of time, Filey is protected by the low lying ridge of rocks called Filey Brigg, from where the sands sweep to the south and end at the spectacular chalk cliffs of Bempton RSPB Bird Sanctuary. There is plenty to see and do in and around Filey, with easy access to the beautiful North Yorkshire Wolds with stunning views across the coastline. The North York Moors steam train takes an 18-mile trip through the glorious Esk Valley stopping at Goathland, famed for both the Harry Potter films and the television series Heartbeat. Shopping trips to the city of Hull and the historic city of York, with its world famous minster, museums, art galleries, curio shops, inns and tea rooms is just over an hour’s drive. Coastal and countryside walks abound, with everything from energetic distance walks to leisurely trail and cycle ways through quiet villages and bustling towns. The Cleveland Way and the Wolds Way offer unrivalled long distance walks. Steeped in history, there are many homes, halls and castles, with Burton Agnes Hall and Castle Howard easily reached. The coastal towns of Bridlington, Scarborough and the ancient sea port of Whitby, smugglers coves such as Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all within easy reach. The Yorkshire coast and countryside has so much to offer at any time of the year and visitors find themselves returning again and again. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Enjoyed my stay , Main bedroom ok , but sofa bed not very comfortable , had to buy a blow up bed to go on top to make it more comfortable , Also did struggle to fit all 4 of us on the sofa as the the single chair was well used and looked horrible, Kitchen was ok, The shower was not easy to use , the water temperature could quickly change and the bathroom sink tap was the wrong way round if you wanted hot water it gave you cold and if you wanted cold you got hot , the tv in the bedroom didn't work when we arrived and I wasn't totally happy with the first response I got from the owner and as it was a new tv this year the shop in Filey came put to look at it but they had to take it away as the power pack was not working , the shop phoned the day we was leaving so unfortunately didn't get to use .

Had a very enjoyable stay ay No.9. Overall the apartment was just what I wanted, just a couple of things could be improved upon. Chair in the living room very worn and needs replacing. Sofa bed not very comfortable, needed a little extra padding, sleeping bag did the job. No hot water on arrival, took me a couple of hours to work out the problem! It was turned off at the main switch! Not sure how 4 people would cope with storage for clothes, just myself and my son visited, left my clothes in my bag. He loved the bedroom. bed very comfortable, thought the sky light was fantastic and could lay in bed and see the stars! Overall fantastic location, great that I could take a dog, great views. Looking at booking again for next year. (one downside is the parking, especially if you go at busy times) Great that WiFi was provided. Stayed at The Bay, Filey, last year, for us No.9 won by 100 percent. Another plus, I felt it was secure with the keypad at the front door and a key for your apartment. One more plus, very quiet to say how many apartments are in the same building.

Being an elderly couple we were disappointed to find no lift in the cottage. It would have been better if this was stated in the blurb. The apartment was lovely but the furniture needed renewing as the chair was threadbare and the sofa backs were worn. The television in the bedroom was not working and there was only a small mirror in the bathroom so drying hair was impossible

Super view. Good spot. Parking easy in January. Warm and clean. Would definitely use again. Very steep stairs. Welcome pack did not include milk. Was good for two people. If you squeezed four adults in then you would run out of chairs in the lounge.

Good location but on street parking could be an issue during peak season. The only down side is the amount of stairs to get to the 3rd floor and for me a TV in the bedroom would be a good improvement. Would stay there again though and recommend others do too, especially as it is dog friendly!
