Lovely return to the North East to celebrate the New Year and spend quality time with the family still up there. It didn't disappoint! The cottage was ideal and had everything we needed. It was just what we envisaged; cosy and comfortable with a little snow thrown in on our journey up there! We visited Alnwick, Alnmouth, Craster, Seahouses and Bambrugh albeit very briefly but brought back great memories of childhood holidays gone by. Mr Ford was very helpful and the welcome pack was spot on..a lovely touch. Many thanks to all involved in making this our best New Year in a long time.

Really lovely spot to stay in, close to Alnwick and it’s wonderful castle. Great coastal walks, worth a trip to Caster for kippers. Gorgeous beaches and castles everywhere. We will definitely be back to visit. The house was lovely, warm and cosy, everything we needed in the kitchen and was a pleasure to stay in. The decor could do with updating if that sort of thing matters to you, it didn’t to us, we were just happy to be a miles walk from the beach.

Alncroft is a very pleasant old cottage. Very clean and well equipped. Very close to Alnwick and a short walk to a very nice beach. It is dog friendly too.

Nice enough cottage, but needed a good clean, smelt of dogs. For what it cost I was disappointed with the attention to detail, too many things to list! Plus this cottage would be better suited to 4 people as not enough space in lounge. The upstairs bathroom is only suitable for children as it is so small. That said it is quirky. Nice sheltered back yard for barbecue, Great location for coastal walks,

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for the below review and the issues raised. Where possible they will be examined and attended to. However, it must be appreciated that Alncroft is an old character cottage with rustic decor etc. I am of course disappointed with some of the comments made which seem to conflict with many earlier reviews. That is also particular the case as I am always at pains to personally advise all guests before taking up residence that if unhappy with anything at all to let me know so where possible an immediate remedy can be sought or at least be dealt with before the arrival of future guests. Although Alncroft Cottage does allow guests to bring a pet I am confident and assured that any odours etc. are properly eliminated and the property thoroughly cleaned which again seems to be reflected in previous reviews. To that end a new carpet was fitted in the living room as recently as April. For the additional comfort of guests, and following advice received from Cottages.com, two existing sofas were recently removed and replaced by larger reclining leather settees which do take up additional space. Finally, I believe the nature of the upstairs 'character' bedrooms etc. are adequately explained within the 'Cottages' website and further illustrated within the attendant photographs.
