Description

Picture postcard village, with the River Windrush flowing through the centre, the Roman road and Fosse Way cross the area.

Perfect Cotswold location

Conveniently located and within a few minutes’ walk of the centre of the village, this lovely detached holiday house is an ideal base from which to explore and savour the delights of the Cotswolds, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the sparkling and swiftly flowing River Windrush racing through the broad expanse of village green, the ’Venice of the Cotswolds’ as Bourton is referred to, is a treat for visitors no matter what time of year. With its graceful low stone bridges spanning the small river at intervals, the centre of the village is picture postcard perfect throughout the seasons. The Roman road and the Fosse Way, is a major access route running across the area, taking the visitor from Moreton-in-Marsh in the north to Cirencester in the south. Local Bourton attractions include the Model Village, Motor Museum and Birdland. Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Kenilworth castles are all within a comfortable drive, while the beautiful gardens of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor are near beautiful Chipping Campden. Enjoy cycling in the surrounding countryside - cycle hire available in the village. Horse riding nearby. Shop, pubs and restaurant 800 yards.

Great cottage for family get together, spacious with enough room for different activities at the same time e.g. some to read quietly, others to play games whilst some watched T.V. Good to have a downstairs bedroom for our elderly mother. Great outside space. A pleasant walking distance into the village. A good central base to visit the Cotswold and Stratford-upon-Avon.

A lovely, comfortable and well-equipped house. Lots of extras, such as hand cream, face cloths and nice handwash. Loads of space and all the bedrooms being en-suite is a huge plus. We loved making use of the plentiful garden seats and the barbecue. Owners very friendly, welcoming and anxious to please. A great place for a relaxing holiday.

the cottage was comfortable but the lounge was full of old fashioned furniture and the dining table and chairs were too big for the space available- ie they were too close to the walls thus making it very hard to pass each other. the cottage is pretty but not suitable for toddlers as there are dangerous items around and tables with sharp corners.

Lovely, well equipped house. Having all bedrooms en suite was a big bonus with three generations of the family holidaying together. Walkable distance to the town with a good choice of restaurants and reasonable prices for a tourist area. Ample off road parking.
