A lovely cottage in a perfect setting for a young family, with alpacas, chickens, pigs, a goat, dog, cat and peacocks right outside the door. In the middle of the countryside yet less than 10 minutes from local supermarkets, Paignton Zoo etc. The heating for the cottage is controlled by the adjoining house (the owner's) and the cottage was a bit cold for the first couple of days, but it was unseasonably chilly for the end of March / early April, and Jacquie the owner did amend heating settings and it was fine from day 3. Really nicely fitted out, the accommodation suited us well (4 adults and 2 children) , ample parking for 2 cars, wonderfully peaceful. Didn't get to use the pool as it was before the summer season, but it looked nice and we will certainly consider returning in warmer climes to enjoy this lovely cottage, its facilities and setting again in the future. There were a few places where it seemed their cleaner hadn't reached (cobwebs on some of the exposed wooden beams and in corners / on skirting board, but the main living and sleeping areas were perfectly clean.

Coming from the big city, the cottage gave us a wonderful taste of peaceful country life within easy reach of the coast. The animals around the cottage are a real plus, and we enjoyed seeing and interacting with them. The cottage itself is a tasteful restoration of an older building, complete with exposed beams on two levels. We enjoyed the atmosphere, but learned that tall people need to watch out for the beam in the upstairs bathroom! Our reception on arrival was very friendly and helpful, along with clear written notes. An ideal place for a family with children during school holidays.

We really enjoyed our time at the pound house from start to finish. Welcomed with fresh flowers and a welcome hamper, all shops aminities and attractions very local, family free range pet's were also a nice added attraction, pigs, chickens, peacocks, goat, alpacas. One small issue due to the accommodation being an old cottage there were quite a few spiders so we slept with one eye open.

We had a super holiday which was slightly ruined by the lack of a heated pool (the water was definitely colder than the average 17/18 degrees sunshine that we were enjoying plus I could see that the pump was not turned on or working properly at that time). There was no warm water being pushed in to that pool...I know because I braved swimming in case I was wrong. The other let down was the cleanliness of areas of the cottage, couches and downstairs floors. However, bathrooms and bedsheets were definitely up to scratch and well laundered. You are provided with many thoughtful touches...games, towels, soaps, BBQ, toys and so on. The animals on your doorstep are superb as are the peaceful surroundings. Owner was very responsive over the phone (because owner was away during our stay so we were unable to discuss our issues in person). All in all, it is a great cottage which was, as I said, marred by a few small rectifiable issues.

A great place to spend a week. The cottage is spacious and well laid out with everything you need. The added bonus are the animals - a friendy dog, pigs, peacocks, alpacas and chickens. Our 'kids' (19 and 21) loved it. The location is in the countryside so is quiet but it is near to all the local amenities with Aldi, Morrisons, Saisburys and Asda all within a 5 minute drive. It is also close to Paignton Zoo. The swimming pool is great with easy access into the pool and no significnat deep end , it is warm. We would come here again.

This is our third stay at the Pound House and we can always be assured of a lovely holiday. The setting is so peaceful and the swimming pool is an added bonus. We have always found the cottage spotlessly clean on our arrival and virtually everything you'll need is provided. The accomodation suits our family very well and each time we go back the owner has made further improvements (i.e. this time both the bathroom and shower room had been refurbished). Another lovely aspect of the cottage is the animals roaming freely around the grounds. A point to note is that the path from the parking area to the cottage is not particularly wheelchair friendly, as it is gravel rather than paved.

Great location and a super outdoor but well heated pool. Lovely environment with an entertaining menagerie on site. My kids loved the pigs! It is not a large unit and while it technically sleeps six we found that with a family of four we were a bit on top of each other. Also the parking is not right next to the cottage so be aware if you have a lot of luggage. But overall great value and especially handy for the many beaches, Dartmoor and fun seaside towns.

Idyllic location with lovely views, very peaceful. Beautiful pool very well kept and heated! Wanted to return September but our dates not available. Warm friendly owner and family. Pygmy pigs, Alpacas, hens, peacock and peahens with chicks, duck with ducklings, and Molly the dog, what's not to like.
