Description

Sea views from this lovely cottage with conservatory and a private track down to Traeth Gribyn beach for bathing.

Peacefully situated overlooking the sea in a quiet corner of Anglesey are these two lovely holiday properties. Formerly three cottages, they have been beautifully converted. Bodlasan Groes House comprises two of the old cottages with a conservatory linking the two parts of the house, whilst Bodlasan Groes Cottage can either be rented separately or booked together with the House to make one large property. Bodlasan Groes Cottage (ref 26946) has a patio area outside the conservatory, and Bodlasan Groes House (ref 29647) has a separate rear garden, both with wonderful sea views and ideal for relaxing with a drink in the evening sun as it sets over Holyhead Mountain. They both also share a large, enclosed, lawned front garden. From the property, a private track leads 400 yards down to the deserted Traeth Gribyn beach offering superb sand, rockpools and bathing sheltered by the breakwater for Holyhead Harbour, 3 miles away. Sea fishing for sea bass is available from Traeth Gribyn beach (no licence required). Alternatively you can visit Stanley Embankment, 4 miles by road, where there is a constant flow of water in and out of the inland sea. Fresh water fishing is available on Llyn Alaw, which is the largest lake on Anglesey, less than 5 miles away, where you can hire a boat and purchase day passes. The Anglesey Coastal Path runs north up the spectacular coast to Carmel Head, and offers a great way to explore the whole 125-mile coastline of Anglesey. The countryside is a birdwatcher’s paradise: as well as a huge variety of common birds and seabirds, red kites, sparrowhawks and owls can often be seen. Migrating geese gather in the area and there is an official RSPB sanctuary and viewing point at Ellin’s Tower near South Stack. For children, the Anglesey Sea Zoo and Foel Farm Park in Brynsiencyn are well worth a visit. Horse riding nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile, beach 1/4 mile. Properties ref 26946 and ref 26947 can be booked together (via interconnecting door) to accommodate up to 13 guests.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen with tiled floor. Conservatory. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Two bedrooms: 1 double (5ft four poster), 1 twin. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

We stayed at Bodlasan Groes cottage with our daughter, son in law and 2 children (9 & 7). The cottage was very spacious. We liked having 2 bathrooms. The views from the cottage were spectacular, especially across to Holyhead through the conservatory. Sadly our stay was spoiled by the fact that the interconnecting door to the adjacent (and occupied) property was not locked, and the underfloor heating in the conservatory did not work. We had to move the dining table out of the conservatory into the living room which obviously reduced the space there. There were a great choice of games, toys and books available. Certain aspects of the property were a bit tired, notably damp round the bedroom windows, a very thin mattress and lightweight duvet on the downstairs bed and a dirty oven that set off the smoke alarms when the grill was used It is worth a mention that this property is not for the feint-hearted out of season. We stayed in February and the property is very remote and was extremely exposed to gale force winds. This did not stop us getting out every day and we all had an enjoyable break.

Arrived on a cold windy day. The cottage was very cold and it took a lot of heating up. Couldn't get underfloor heating to work in conservatory at all. Luckily our daughter brought electric heaters 2 days later. We had to carry table into lounge for meals. The kitchen equipment was lacking a few items which we had to buy, like :- baking tray,, serving spoons ,, meat tin, whisk. It was disappointing the pub was further than one mile which was in our criteria. Certainly not in walking distance..!. Parking was a problem. Had to park on grass verge which became soft towards end of week. Was pleased when the neighbours went so I could put car on driveway. Would have been better if caravan was on drive next door.. Next to the boat. Otherwise we had a great week. Really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage on the whole was nice. With great views.
