Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Located in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this property is ideal for exploring the Fforest Fawr Geopark.

Cennen Cottages are set off a country lane close to the small village of Bethlehem in the upper Twyi Valley with lovely views across open farmland and up towards Carn Goch, an Iron age hill fort. Dolgoed House (ref RA5) has lots of character with exposed stone and beams and boasts four en-suite bedrooms; two of which are on the ground floor. Y Stabl (ref OM2) is an attractive stone barn conversion. Both properties stand detached and have a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings, and a large lawned garden and patio for enjoying al fresco dining on warmer days.

Located in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, between the boutique town of Llandeilo and the farming village of Llangadog, both just a few miles away and offer a good choice of places to eat and drink. There is spectacular walking along the high ridges of the Fforest Fawer Geopark, plus scenic cycle rides or drives along the river. The area is home to the red kite, one of the UK’s most beautiful birds of prey. It is also the setting of numerous castle and historical sites set in stunning locations including Carreg Cennen, Newtwon House, Dinefwr Castle and Park and the Dolau Cothi Gold Mines (underground tours available). The National Botanic Garden of Wales, with its giant glass dome is well worth a visit at any time of year, while at the coast, Kidwelly Castle and Pembrey Country Park, with its 8 miles of sandy beaches, are must-see day trips. Great place. Big enough to cope with 10 people easily. Didn't feel crowded at all. Quirky layout with each room independent of the others all with their own on-suite which was quite handy when everyone needed to be ready to go out at the same time ! Would recommend if you want a quite place for a large group.

Holiday was a whole family celebration of a 'big' birthday. Lovely to have quality time with 3 generations from Northumberland, Cambridgeshire and Cheshire. The cottage was cosy and comfortable. Wines on arrival and no rain for the week were bonuses. Local red kites were stunningly close in a splendid setting. We wouldn't stay again with the whole family, but may well book a smaller cottage for two from the same owners.

Cottage was absolutely fabulous but unfortunately we was told before getting to the property that the upper floors had no heating due to needing a new pump for the heating system it was until I text the caretaker that he told me then offered to move us which was a bit late after unpacking

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience you may have suffered during your stay. It was on the 6th day of your 7 night stay that you contacted our caretaker, who tried to explain that the ground source heating system was working but had to be set at a low level due to problems with the pump cutting out when being overworked. The caretaker did offer to move your party to an alternative location but you did not want to move. We anticipate that the problem will be fixed the week commencing Monday 24th April 2017.

A beautiful location. The cottage provides very good accommodation and is well furnished with lots of room to spread out in. We had a fabulous time staying here and would recommend it. If I had one thing to say it would be to provide more cooking utensils and mugs - so not that major.
