Description

Enjoy a special occasion at this property, where gourmet meals can be arranged and which also has its own hot tub.

Nestling in the pretty Norfolk countryside close to the heart of the Norfolk Broads, Willow Barn and single-storey Beech Barn are detached holiday properties dating back to the 1700s, situated in the grounds of the owner’s home. Providing a perfect retreat for discerning larger family groups, these converted barns offer spacious and comfortable accommodation boasting beamed interiors, wood-burning stoves and enclosed separate gardens with private hot tubs, and for a special meal or family celebration gourmet meals can be arranged with the owner. Beech Farm Barns are ideally located for all the family and for nature lovers there is an abundance of bird life. Within walking distance is Alderfen Broad, which is situated in The Broads National Park, a bird watcher’s delight. For the children there is BeWILDerwood Adventure Park with its treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and boat trips, which all combined makes a great day out. Nearby is the attractive Broads village of Horning with its selection of tea shops, restaurants and pubs. A day boat can be hired directly from the owner, or book a trip on the Mississippi steamer. The sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast are only 10 miles away. Alternatively spend a day in the fine city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedrals, castle, museums, theatres, market and vast array of cafes and shops. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest 17th-century country Jacobean houses in East Anglia), Blickling Hall (a magnificent house with woodlands and lakeside walks) and Sheringham Park (beautifully landscaped and renowned for its spectacular displays of azaleas and rhododendrons in late spring). Shops and pub 1½ miles.

Spacious living room with wood-burning stove, tiled floor and French doors. Spacious well-equipped kitchen/dining room with electric range (for cooking) and tiled floor. Utility. Double bedroom with 5ft bed and en-suite shower room with toilet. Two twin bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom and toilet, one with TV/DVD and en-suite shower room with toilet. Separate toilet. Excellent location and quality barn conversion. Some small points of detail need attention, but overall a very good holiday. Note mobile signal is best for O2 and EE - no 3 signal. Wifi is weak, but ok in places.

Great barn, would definitely stay again and have already recommended it to friends! Only suggestion would be to put a sign at the top of the lane so it's easy to find.

Location and Norfolk generally, the Broads etc, was very good. Willow Barn was a huge victim of lack of TLC. We listed at least 20 issues that needed addressing some concerning safety. The hot tub had seen better days with parts broken, missing or not working. No outside furniture except 2 bench/picnic units, no chairs or loungers. The property had clearly seen better days but we nonetheless enjoyed our holiday including excellent food at the pub in Neatishead, the Seafood Restaurant in Horning and the Broads tour from Wroxham.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to review Willow Barn following your recent stay. The hot tub cover was broken and new one was on order, this has now been fitted. Enough outside seating for 12 people is provided; we do not supply 12 loungers! The property was painted throughout at the beginning of season, all neat and tidy. We are only 50 meters away; but no one came to see us. I am sure a lot of points could have been resolved very quickly at the time.

Fantastic cottage had a wonderful time, only complaint was the amount of wasps, there may be a best somewhere nearby but apart from that beautiful cottage!

Pros: spacious layout and living space, bathroom for every room was fab, quiet location, large enclosed garden, hot tub, lots of room for parking Cons: sofas and carpets tired, dining chairs with wobbly legs, showers over baths with no curtains, cobwebs on ceilings, splattered bugs on the walls (not by us!), one of the upstairs rooms with no opening windows was extremely hot and stuffy. Markings on oven faded so can't see which knob was for which ring without turning them on. We are a large family and rent a house together every year. This house sadly did not live up to everyone's expectations, although very spacious with a lovely big garden, the interior does need some maintenance and updating.

Excellent holiday consisting of eight adults and two eight year old children. Layout of property ideal and comfortable. As the weather was cold we used the heating and were cosy. Slept well and used the hot tub which was a god send. Lovely. Owners very friendly and helpful. Took advantage of Chef2dine4 which was recommended, a real treat and an excellent evening. Great local pub The White Horse Inn in nearby village Neatishead. Hope to visit again and perhaps take advantage of a boat next time.
