Set in sumptuous Devon countryside and enjoying views over an adjacent lake, these two holiday lodges offer extremely well appointed accommodation and their own private hot tubs

Two purpose built contemporary lodges, set in an elevated position above the owners farmland with far reaching views across meadows and a small lake in the valley. Guests are enchanted by the beautiful location, the quietness and dark starry night skies. Both properties are extremely well appointed and spacious both inside and out, each boasting large decked terraces, with gates for keeping both pets and children from roaming, and each having their own private hot tub. The perfect location for families or friends looking for a peaceful retreat for a holiday or celebrating a special occasion, and the perfect spot for those looking to explore the wider surrounding area. A well established hedge provides complete privacy between the two lodges, but a small access path means that the two can be hired together for large groups.
Close by, the Grand Western Canal and Country Park, offers boat trips and great walking and cycling, Knighthayes National Trust, 3 miles, Killerton and Powderham Castle. Exmoor’s seaside resorts, Dartmoor, the city of Exeter, south coast towns and north coast surfing beaches are easily accessible. Beauty treatments, local veg and meat box and home cooking can all be arranged (at extra charge). Shop/PO 2 miles, pub 1 mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed/dining area/kitchen. 2 double bedrooms, one (four poster) with en-suite shower room and toilet, one with additional pull-out single (2ft 6in for child). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

We had a lovely week staying at Wattles. The pictures do not do it justice. There was plenty of room for us (4 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs). Our youngest dog liked nothing better than laying out on the terrace watching the chickens! The hot tub was brilliant, we all enjoyed it. Our children were in it within 15 minutes of arriving! Heather, the owner, was on hand to ask any questions. The Globe, just down the road in Sampford Peverell is a must! Added bonus of the washing machine meant we didn't have loads of washing when we got home. I won't miss the narrow country roads though. We all thoroughly enjoyed Wattles and will definitely be returning.

Great location to spend time outdoors in the hot tub looking out at the views and stars of an evening. We were very lucky with good weather, but a fan for the bedrooms would have been handy. Very well equipped kitchen, washing machine with a clothes horse for inside or a whirly gig for outside. Nice touch with fresh eggs and a bottle of wine on arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Lovely location & welcome. Really enjoyed our stay. Only thing to mention, towels were rough & not soft. Could do with new ones.

Very relaxing holiday spent at Wattles. Fabulous, well equipped lodge set in beautiful and remote surroundings. Total privacy - you don't overlook anyone else and nobody overlooks you. Very friendly and obliging hosts. A perfect location in mid Devon allows you to explore both coasts. Highly recommended.

Wattles is a nice lodge in a lovely rural location with views across the fields. It felt quite private and although the next door lodge is very close it is well screened. The owner is nearby and left a welcome bottle of wine and plenty of eggs for our arrival, both of which were enjoyed by all. The lodge had just about everything you could possibly need with a modern well equipped kitchen, the main downside was the furniture in the lodge, it was very dated and mix-matched (but not in a nice shabby chic way). It felt dirty even though we cleaned it regularly.

unfortunately there is no mention of it anywhere being on a working farm with 4000 chickens which u can see/hear from the patio doors. My dog who came with me, hates chickens and spent all holiday trying to escape. I wouldn't have gone there if I'd had known Plus dog friendly it's not, they expected you to put towels on the 4 rugs in the living room if my dog decided to lay on them. There were someone's dirty underwear in one of the bedside cabinet. all in all a very disappointing holiday

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your review of our lodge. We will edit the description so that future guests do know we are a working farm . For future guests we confirm we are a working farm . However the farm buildings are a good 500 meters away from the lodges. The hens are free range and roam the fields and meadows and specially constructed wooded areas down in the valley and don’t tend to migrate towards the holiday lodges. But sometimes you may find a few of our girls heading in your direction. They are fenced in so cannot roam too close. For future guests we do endeavour to keep the lodges as clean and hair free as possible which is why we respectfully ask you to help us by not allowing the dogs to make their beds and sleep on our rugs ( towels are provided) or the soft furnishings.
