Full of period features, uneven floors and very interesting, great shower room and comfy lounge, lovely garden, but you must keep your dog on lead to get to it as the main road is very busy. It is really small though, no way I would have four adults in there, we struggled with two. We used the twin bedroom as it was bigger. I spoke to the owner before we went who was very nice and gave us great tips for dog friendly pubs (the Wild Man could not have been more welcoming), lovely walks, and a great community shop, although the caretaker did not respond to a couple of texts about the whereabouts of the advertised DVD player - we never did find it! The welcome pack was a very nice touch. If you are a bellringer, the village has a lovely ring of 6 and a very welcoming Tower Captain/team, check Doves for practice details.

Nice comfortable clean cottage, very well equipped, with lovely walks by the river. The local community shop nearby was stocked with all the necessities. Well situated for access to the beautiful Suffolk coast and attractions. However, we had to put our dog on the lead to move from the cottage to the back garden, as there was no direct access.

Cottage was well equipped with some welcome gifts but wasn't very clean. Bins not emptied, mouldy and rotten veg in cupboards and toilets contained previous occupants DNA. Floors weren't hoovered. Stairs could have done with a stair gate as dogs not allowed upstairs and dogs are curious creatures. Outside light didn't work making steps into the cottage a bit dangerous in the dark. Reversing into the drive wasn't easy but had to be done as you would be reversing off drive into 60 mph traffic totally blind. More information could have been provided about local area for walks , shopping etc. The small back garden has to be accessed from the driveway. The door doesn't open on to it. While our dog is taken for lots of walks wee breaks are needed which meant he had to have his collar and lead put on in order to pop out for a wee. It's a lovely little cottage with loads of character and full of bequeathed jugs which we found interesting though a little sad as they were so dusty. Apart from the busy road and back-garden the cottage would have been perfect if it was a bit cleaner. We don't expect to have to clean toilets and showers before being prepared to use them. The information pack stated we should contact the caretaker if there were any complaints but we would have felt awkward contacting them to come and clean.

Response on behalf of the owner; We were very surprised and saddened by the above comments. Walnut cottage is managed to an extremely high standard. Our Regional Manager inspected the Cottage on the same day the guest departed and upgraded us by .02 % as we aspire for the 5 star grading. Many of our guests have really enjoyed their stay with us and this is reflected within the reviews on the website. Walnut Cottage, which is the oldest property in village, is loved by us, its owners, the local villagers and usually our guests and we look forward to welcoming back our many clients to this delightful Cottage.

Quirky, characterful & ideally situated for exploring a multitude of beautiful & interesting parts of East Anglia. The cottage boasts, also, a beautifully colourful garden, despite it's being March, which will no doubt, prove more beneficial to summer visitors. And SO warm & cosy......I felt cheated in that I didn't require the boost of the wood-burning stove. A minor problem I encountered was dealt with efficiently & effectively, without any fuss......despite, ultimately, the fault lying entirely with myself! And the welcome hamper......never before have I encountered such generous hosts....."exceedingly" generous! Plus my mutt went free! (although no welcome eukanuba....owners please note!!). I will return!

The cottage was lovely, full of character, well equipped and very comfortable. The owners had gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, providing not only a Christmas tree and other decorations but bread, milk, chocolates, mince pies, a Victoria sponge and even port! We were told a lot about the history of the cottage and information about walks for the dogs. The only thing I would say is that instructions for the cooker would be useful as we are all techie dunces! We would happily stay at this cottage again any time. Thank you so much to the owners for all their efforts.
