Description

Enjoy the golden sands at Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven or travel to Tintagel and Boscastle from this detached farmhouse.

Just a short drive from the North Cornish Coast in a truly peaceful location, this grand, detached farmhouse commands an imposing position surrounded by pretty gardens and rolling countryside. Furnished to a very comfortable standard, it offers spacious accommodation and is ideal for large parties or families wishing to holiday together. The historic village of Stratton is just ¼ mile with its lovely church, attractive inns and village shop. Bude, 2 miles, sits dramatically, perched high on the North Cornish Coast. It is incredibly popular year-round and yet manages to retain its Victorian charm whilst offering something for everyone and has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, many offering local seafood. Water sports enthusiasts will find some of the best surfing waters in Europe nearby, while the golden sands at Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven (with its rock pools) are ideal for a fun family day out. Walkers, too, are well catered for; gentle strolls can be enjoyed along the towpath of Bude’s canal, which, with its bird hide, attracts all manner of wildlife, while more exhilarating walks can be taken along the spectacular coastal path which winds along high cliffs and includes many lovely, dog-friendly beaches and hidden coves. The Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club (one of Cornwall’s finest) is close by, along with bowling, an indoor ‘Splash’ pool and seawater-fed outdoor pool. Tennis, horse riding, mountain boarding, surfing and fishing are all on offer locally and the internationally acclaimed jazz festival is fantastic and not to be missed. This is a region steeped in legends of King Arthur, with the mystical ruins of a 12th-century castle at Tintagel and the historic coastal village of Boscastle each easily accessible. The picture-postcard village of Clovelly, with winding cobbled streets and quaint fishing harbour lies further north. The Eden Project is also within a short drive; a major attraction, the site promotes the symbiotic relationship between people, plants and natural resources, with three geodesic domes housing plants from around the world. All in all, Trew House offers the perfect base for exploring the many delights which both Devon and Cornwall have to offer. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1/2 mile.

Trew house is a wonderful place to stay in a gorgeous location. The house itself is spacious and very well equipped and was a great place to explore the coastline around Bude.

Very comfortable house with ample room for 8 adults and 5 little ones. Provision of 2 travel cots was appreciated, and all beds were very comfortable. Ample parking for 5+ cars. 3 separate lounge areas gave everyone plenty of space and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could need. We especially enjoyed the warm range in the kitchen, and the heating, as the evenings were quite chilly.

I booked this for a big birthday celebration and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful location, just half a mile from the town, so really easy for trotting down to the pub in the evening. Big house with lots of space, really comfortable for larger groups. No trouble parking as sits in its own grounds with stunning views from all windows. The house was very clean and warm with a lovely wood burning stove in one of the sitting rooms, which made a lovely place to sit in the evenings. A nice big cake awaiting our arrival which was a lovely touch. Bedding was good quality and plentiful towels which was much appreciated. Lots of kitchen equipment and crockery more then adequate for our large group of 11. We were there in March but stunning garden which would be lovely to sit in during the warmer months. Thank you. We would definitely come back and strongly recommend.

We had a wonderful holiday at Trew House. The property was beautifully presented and in a ideal location just a short distance from Bude and Widemouth Bay. There were 3 families in our party and the property had plenty of space for everyone.

Although we loved the house we found it not very well cared for with rugs upturned, painting and furnishings in need of some tender loving care and in the garden furniture in need of replacing and rusty man hole cover around the back needed replacing. We enjoyed having the room but felt for the money it cost to stay for a week some should have been spent on what could be a tremendous property that needed a little tlc.
