Had a lovely week here, despite some changeable weather. Owner very kindly lit the fire before we arrived after an horrendous journey on a very wet and windy day. Cottage welcoming. Upside down living took some getting used to but took advantage of the cottage's unique position by the canal. My only complaint would be about the plastic pillows (as found in hospitals).

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; We’re really pleased to hear that you had a lovely week, despite the changeable weather. Also that you found the cottage welcoming and enjoyed the position by the canal. With reference to the pillows, for 2016 we have changed all the pillow protectors to soft pillow protectors. Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments, it is much appreciated.

Brilliant location. All we needed was provided. Safe enclosed garden. We would stay again. Quiet and peaceful. Very Comfortable beds, made all the difference. Perhaps a walk in shower in place of the bath.

Very nice cottage and a warm welcome from the owners. Great location right by the canal was ideal for quick walks with the dog.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for taking the time to leave your kind comments. We are really pleased to hear that you liked the cottage and found the location ideal for walking your dog along the canal. The local pub in the village "The Soldier Dick", which also serves food, welcomes dogs. A 40 minute walk along the canal will bring you to another dog friendly pub "The Navigation Inn" which was once owned by Coronation Street's Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix).

This cottage was in an idyllic setting. A lovely friendly welcome from the owner, with a log fire already lit for us. For the first two days, we walked along the canal both ways, just admiring the beauty and friendliness of the narrow boat owners. Then we took the opportunity to explore the many places to visit. There is a small train station with trains to Buxton or Manchester very nearby. I have already recommended it to family and friends

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. The location of the train station is proving popular for trips to Buxton and Manchester, and so you can leave your car at the property and go off exploring without using your car. It’s possible to buy a “Wayfarer” ticket which allows all day travel on trains, the Metrolink tram service, and buses within the area. If you want to plan your days out in advance, then details and maps of the areas covered can be found at: http://tfgm.com/journey_planning/Tickets/Pages/tickets_wayfarer.aspx Prices are £12 per adult and £6 concession (Prices are at July 2015).

The location of this cottage is ideal for dog owners. The upstairs is bright, warm and sunny however the downstairs is cool and doesn't receive the sun. This can be overcome by having an open coal fire which we did each evening, even on warm days.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for giving your time to leave your comments, and we’re glad that you enjoyed your stay.
