It is a few minutes’ walk from the railway and coach stations and a 30-minute drive from Dalcross Airport. This centrally heated house is decorated and furnished to a very good standard. The location was fantastic, however the house was a little outdated. The lock on the bathroom door didn’t work, the bunk beds were small, there was bread crumbs left under the toaster and there were a lot of dust webs.

This is a town house in a terrace with residential property across the street. Parking was a problem and we were not able to park near to the house as any residential spaces were always full. There was no light which worked in the hall, stairs, bedrooms, or bathroom. The only ceiling light which did switch on was in the kitchen/dining room, presumably because to replace the bulb in that area you would be able to stand on the dining room table to reach it. The ceilings are all very high and you would need a step ladder to replace a light bulb which may be why the housekeeper is not replacing the bulbs. As you will appreciate not being able to light the steep stairs and the bathroom at night is quite a problem and unsafe. The only lighting available was from the one bedside lamp which worked in the master bedroom. The House has an unpleasant smell which is not helped by the spray pump air freshener which makes a noise when it sprays out an unpleasant aroma situated in the Hall behind the front door. There was no welcome pack/tourist information or instructions for use of TV appliances, etc. The decor and furnishings are dated and the main bedroom is in need of some attention as can be seen from my holiday photograph which we have taken from the townhouse master bedroom. There was no curtain (other than sheer netting) to the main sitting room window which is very large and faces directly onto the street so it is rather like sitting in a goldfish bowl on view to passers-by when the lamp is switched on in the evening. There was a constant stream of pedestrians and vehicles past the window which did not make for a relaxing evening in. There was also some loud music played after midnight from the property next door on Friday evening.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I was horrified and very sorry the guest had so many complaints. It is a pity they did not contact us about their concerns during their visit. Our housekeeper is very efficient and very obliging, and they did talk to her at one point when they were concerned about the whereabouts of a “missing” shirt. I do not recognise the unpleasant smell to which the guest refers to. We stayed in the house ourselves and there was no evidence of a smell. The curtain rail in the sitting room broke the night before they arrived so we removed it altogether rather than leave it hanging perilously. It has since been reinstated. As far as the parking is concerned, that is unfortunate. There is a parking permit and usually there is space to park a car. I am sorry too about the traffic and noise of which they complain - it is very unfortunate. I have never, ever been disturbed by noise emanating from our neighbours. I hope our future guests will be more satisfied with the house, and I would like to reassure them we are always happy to address their concerns while they are there.
