English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

A short drive from the M40 giving easy access to Birmingham and London, or for simply exploring the delights of the Cotswolds.

Set in rolling rural countryside on the borders of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, yet only a short drive from the major motorway connections of the M40 (Junctions 10 and 11), The Hayloft and The Stalls (refs NAB & NAC) are adjoining barn conversions which lie on the edge of the Cotswolds. They offer spacious, light and airy holiday accommodation that is still warm, cosy and comfortable with wooden floors and a wood-burning stove. There are numerous established footpaths and bridle paths which criss-cross the area and take guests through some of the most picturesque countryside and landscapes. The nearby village of Aynho is famous for the apricot trees grown on the stone walls of the old houses. The historic market town of Banbury is close by, whilst Deddington (with a monthly farmers’ market), Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour give a more traditional view of the Cotswolds and the chance to stroll along the quaint high streets, stopping at one of the many tea shops and country inns for which the area is famous. Less than 30 minutes away lies Blenheim Palace, in the town of Woodstock, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and home of the Blenheim Horse Trials. In the opposite direction, why not sample Sulgrave Manor (ancestral home of the family of George Washington) or Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, situated next to a forest - or divert to shop at designer boutiques in the highly acclaimed Bicester Village Outlet Centre. A little farther afield, but still within easy driving distance, lie the university city of Oxford, the ancient town of Warwick, Leamington Spa and the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Commonly referred to as Shakespeare’s Stratford, this is the perfect opportunity to visit many historic attractions including the Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Aynho is an hour’s journey north to Birmingham (with the National Exhibition Centre) or south to London itself. There are excellent fast trains from Banbury or Bicester, or drive via the M40. The Stalls was lovely- impeccably clean and great facilities within in. A short walk to a lovely local pub for a great pub lunch and set in lovely countryside and Helen and Tim were very helpful and hospitable. We would love to visit again, we could not fault it. Thank you.

Fabulous house: extremely well equipped and in the perfect location for a weekend get together. The hot tub was an added bonus. We would certainly go back.

Fantastic weekend away with friends, we however did get snowed in and the owner and caretaker were amazing, and so helpful. Even offered us a night or two free so we were safe.

Lovely place to stay, we all had a wonderful time. Hot tub water was not clean and needed treating.

Had the best girlie weekend ever at the Stalls. Beautiful place, great location for shopping @ Biscester. Short taxi ride into Banbury for a selection bars & restaurants and a lovely walk into Souldern to a delightful country pub. Hot tub was a lovely addition too. Owners Helen & Tim and caretaker Helen couldn't have been more welcoming. Attached to another three bedroomed conversion which can be opened up to make one big property for larger groups. Would highly recommend.

We had the best time at The Stalls. There was a group of 8 of us ranging from age 20 to 60, for my friends hen do and we decided that we would be having both nights in the property, we had everything we needed for a fantastic break. There isn't much to do in the local area, but we enjoyed a nice walk in to village. The rest of stay we partied the nights away. The stalls sleeps 8 comfortably, the beds were arranged to our specifications and they were very comfortable and clean. Great kitchen and dining area, we cooked both nights and it was lovely to all be sat round the table. The hot tub is absolutely lovely and really made our time at the Stalls that extra bit special. The Stalls had everything we needed and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. The owners and lady who looks after the apartments are very welcoming. It's worth noting that The Stalls can be adjoining to the property next door and therefore if you should need a property sleeping more than 8, you could also hire that which sleeps 6.

We came for a wedding in the local area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this superbly modernised old building. Lovely rooms, local wildlife to watch through the windows and quiet walks across the estate to the Fox pub at Soulden (about 20 minutes on a paved road), or the Cartwright Arms in the village. The Fox was much better! Log fires in both the massive kitchen/diner and the smaller sitting room, modern hot water system and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The only down side was a bit of traffic noise from the M40 about half a mile away, but you get used to it after a few minutes.

This is a lovely barn conversion and very well equipped. We had a really relaxing stay despite the weather not being very good. The only problem was that the floor to ceiling windows of the main kitchen dining area leaked onto the floors which was a bit problematic for our toddlers. The stair gate was also broken and came off the wall everytime it was opened. Other then that we thought this was a great place to stay.
