Description

This converted stone holiday cottage enjoys a peaceful setting on 57 acres of farmland and rolling countryside.

Situated just 5 minutes from Cardigan Bay and within easy reach to the whole of the beautiful Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coastline and coastal walks, these three converted stone holiday cottages (refs OSB, OSC and OSC) are peacefully set on a farm with a selection of alpacas, donkeys, llamas, goats, ducks and chickens. The owners who live on the farm, which is set in 57 acres of rolling countryside, encourage the children to interact with the animals, and are also pleased to offer the use of a barbecue hut nicknamed the ‘Hobbit House’ by the family. Guests can hire it during their stay directly with the owners, subject to availability and for a small charge. The owner can also supply their own barbecue meat packs on request (charge payable). Within a 15-minute drive visitors can discover quaint New Quay, famous for the bottlenose dolphins that can often be seen from the harbour (boat trips available in season). The colourful, Georgian, harbour town of Aberaeron is just a bit further up the coast road, with its chic shops and plenty of restaurants. Antique shoppers and browsers will enjoy the nearby market town of Newcastle Emlyn, and Cenarth with its waterfalls is also close by and offers indoor swimming, coracle rides, fishing and paintballing. There are numerous attractions in the area, particularly suitable for children. Nearby is the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, which is set on a headland overlooking the nature reserve of Cardigan Island, home to thousands of sea birds. At the foot of the cliffs, a colony of Atlantic grey seals can be observed in their natural habitat. Spectacular coastline and wonderful views can be savoured from the NT-managed Penbryn Bay and a visit to NT Cilgerran Castle can also be enjoyed. Only the ruins remain of this striking 13th-century castle, whose vantage point overlooks the wonderful Teifi Gorge. Also nearby is the town of Cardigan with its restored medieval castle. The Teifi Valley Railway is another experience for the visitor, a 2 mile journey offers wonderful views of the valley and countryside. Golf and horse riding can also be found locally. Shops 1 mile.

We loved the property, it had everything we needed, it was very clean and tidy and the Hobbit house was fantastic... although... we did think it was at our disposal, in our garden, due to the pictures shown on the website... It's only a tiny walk away from The Stables but you do have to pay £25.00 to use it, hence we used it for only the one night... Personally for us there just wasn't a great deal to do around this location... With two children and a dog it was quite limiting as to what we could do anyway unless the weather was fantastic and you could hit all of the beautiful beaches! Perfect if you just want to hunker down and relax on your holidays but for us it was just a bit too quiet...

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us but are sorry you felt mislead about the Hobbit House. It does clearly state it is a shared facility and incurs charge. Unfortunately we found the BBQ Hut was being abused when there was no Charge. As we prepare and supply the house with charcoal and clean the house for the customers after use we don’t think this is much considering the facilities provided.

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage. Fantastic scenery in a beautiful setting with donkeys, lamas and goats on your doorstep. Had a birthday bbq in the Hobbit house, great fun. A lovely welcome from Ann and Paul. We had 2 cottages with elderly parents in the Cottage opposite which worked well. We were grateful for the use of 2 fields for our larger dogs in the mornings before a beach walk. It may have been tricky without this as the stables has no garden just the enclosed patio area. Would love to revisit when dogs allowed on Penbryn beach as not allowed between May and September although we did go down at 6.00am when no one around! Some beautiful beaches within driving distance.
