A warm, very comfortable cottage in a wonderful setting with the main attractions being a) the Blue Lion restaurant/pub literally just across the road - so can leave the car at the cottage - and b) a good flat walk on Braithwaite Lane at the end of the village. Very little traffic so have a good meal at the Blue Lion and get some necessary exercise without putting on the walking gear. Or, take the walk before the meal to work up an appetite! The cottage is a bungalow with good sized grounds front and back with a view of hills to the rear, and in a very quiet, private location. Our stay was in winter so we didn’t have the opportunity to fully enjoy the attractively designed rear garden. At a warmer time time of the year it would be a lovely place to sit out and relax in seclusion. Our only criticisms are first, of the cottage interior; it really would benefit from some decluttering. Secondly, there is a caravan parked at the rear of the property, not at all obtrusive, but it does take up the only turning space where a vehicle can move in and reverse out to ensure it faces forward when joining the main road. Otherwise, getting onto the road does require a second person to act as look-out when reversing onto the road near a blind corner. Fortunately, the road through East Witton is not busy so it’s a minor problem far out-weighed by the advantages of this property. We also wish to commend the owner for taking the trouble to contact us the day after we had moved in to ask if we were warm enough because temperatures had dropped to record lows overnight. That was a very welcoming gesture which we appreciated very much. Thank you.

A very comfortable bungalow with a gorgeous garden. Enjoyed the birds Pheasants and rabbits. The pub over the road was very expensive and lacking in atmosphere The village itself was lovely. Interesting things to see within a short drive. Pity the black sheep brewery was far too costly to visit.
