This property is part of our Cottages4you collection

In superb locations and beautiful settings. Cottages4you gives you a fantastic range of hand-picked properties with quality you can rely on.

Tastefully furnished, and in a rural location, this is a great property for a family holiday away from it all.

These two delightful stone built holiday cottages, (refs 27170 and 27171), have been thoughtfully converted from former stables into lovely cosy accommodation. Situated on a working farm, they have been beautifully styled with contemporary furnishings and make a great base to explore this lovely area. For family groups they can be booked together, or alternatively, they make a good choice for couples. There are several good golf courses, fishing, including sea fishing, and other country sports establishments, all within a short drive, or you may prefer the superb walking available in the nearby Angus Glens. There are plenty of activities in the city of Dundee, 4 miles, from country parks at Clatto and Camperdown, to ice skating, cinema, leisure pool and HMS Discovery. St Andrews, Perth and the East Neuk of Fife are all well worth a visit or alternatively indulge in some retail therapy in Dundee’s shopping centres. The villages and towns strung out on the coast from Broughty Ferry to Montrose offer clean beaches and local produce, notably the famous Smokies from Arbroath. Shop 1 mile, pub 11/2 miles, restaurant 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/kitchen with tiled floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin, both with French doors. Shower room with toilet.

High chair.

Both properties: Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Electric heaters and electricity (initial £20 included, thereafter by meter reading). Bed linen and towels included. Travel cot on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi available at £5 per booking. Sitting-out area. This was by far the best cottage I have ever stayed in - total 5-star rating. The owners were kindness itself and so friendly and welcoming, even supplying new-baked bread, eggs and a bottle of wine as a Welcome. The cottage was warm, comfortable and extremely well equipped. A bonus was being able to take my dog. With Dundee close by, plus beaches, stately homes and palaces, museums, shopping, art galleries and leisure facilities all near by, it was excellent all round. I would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful place to stay. Centrally located for visiting local area. The owners were lovely they were on hand if needed, but not overbearing and it was a extra bonus for my daughter to go and collect eggs with Neil. We felt rested and relaxed at the end of our week.

What a hidden gem! After staying in a stunning cottage in Cumbria last year we tried not to get our hopes up, but we needn't have worried. The cottage was lovely - cosy, clean, with great features and in a convenient and peaceful location. Neil and Margaret were fantastic hosts, with delicious treats waiting for us on arrival - very friendly and helpful. Although most definitely in the countryside, supermarkets are within a 5 minute drive so it's easy to stock up. If we return to the area we will absolutely stay here again and we would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Fantastic cottage, could not get better hosts in Neil and Margaret. Fresh bread, eggs, flowers and a bottle of wine very much appreciated. This is the second time we have stayed there when we visit family locally and it allows us the space to have family round for meals plus more importantly space for our 5 year old granddaughter to run around. The only downside is the farm track; lot of pot holes the first time but even more severe this time.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you very much for your kind comments and we are glad you and your family had a lovely time. Yes the road during your stay was a bit of a mess and sadly we couldn’t rectify it before you left which was the plan. Ironically the whole road was repaired on the weekend after you left and is a joy to drive on now - “Haste ye back mon brave”.

I thought the Old Stables was a lovely place to stay. The only negative thing I could say was I had to pay for additional logs for the wood burner as it was January and electricity.
