The old school house is well located in the village for amenities and even though a school and church are very nearby traffic and noise is not noticable at all within the cottage. The cottage itself is well kept but please note that you may have to adjust the boiler settings as by default it is often left turned off. Also note that television reception can be a little scratchy at times, we had a few occassions during the week where rain or slight wind meant no TV signal at all for any channels, it is possible that the aerial is being impacted by the tree outside the property. Although pet friendly a couple of things caused a few issues during our stay, lack of a garden or a significant amount of grass near the front door means having to walk the dogs down through the village or along the road for toilet requirements during the evening. The kitchen door is not securing correctly and dogs are meant to be kept in the kitchen over night. Also the bins are kept in the kitchen which is not a good idea for when dogs are present. Main Bedroom door is the opposite an actually sticking due to recent painting which means yanking the door to open it. Decor in the kitchen needs to be updated as the wallpaper is looking tired and seams are peeling open in places. Although recommended as a cottage I would suggest dog owners are sure of the situation of the cottage when booking as road verges are the only real opportunity for dogs when being walked and the bin suggested by the owners instructions is actually a council rubbish bin further along the road in front of the school.

A great cottage to stay in for a family of four with two dogs. Fantastic walks from the door with all local shops you need a few minutes walk away. Great pubs in the village serving food also + two fish and chip shops. Cottage comes with parking also!

A lovely cottage, very clean and well furnished with a great woodburner for winter stays. Ideal position for the well equipped village for dining and tea rooms.

We had an amazing time at Derbyshire and it helped that the cottage was so clean and had all the right equipment. We were close to Bakewell which is a must to visit. The local Restaurants and Pubs are very friendly and also dog friendly and had great food. There are a lot of walks so don't forget your walking boots.
