Ideal location for exploring Derbyshire; excellent views and our dog loved racing around the field.

Excellent cottage. We spent the week after xmas there and new year 2016. Everything we needed was there and great walks for the dog nearby. Weather was abysmal. I was expecting snow but we got a monsoon but the log fire made up for the weather. Please don't make the mistake I made and keep your dog on a lead. There is plenty of room to walk the dog on the property but the owners chickens made an appearance one day so I had to catch the dog. Luckily I got there in time. Our dog is a bit of a looney though :) We had a thoroughly relaxing week and we would definitely go back.

It was great to return to the Old Byre and once again we were impressed by the comfort and cleanliness of the cottage. Helen & Kevin were as always helpful and friendly. The Old Byre has a superb location on a hill, overlooking the surrounding countryside with views to all sides. It is well-equipped and the large, comfy bed is a bonus! It is within easy reach of several beautiful Peak district walks The underfloor heating makes it cosy in the evening and there was a large supply of wood for the burner (thankfully not needed as we were lucky with the weather in September) The Red Lion pub has re-opened (a mile away in Thorncliffe) and this serves excellent pub meals and good beer Thanks for the delicious shortcake! We have been to the Old Byre many times and we will be back again

We had a lovely break in this beautifully renovated byre. The views were stunning and we were made to feel very welcome (the shortbread being an added bonus!). It is also ideally located for touring the Peak District and a short car drive to the lovely town of Leek for those bits of shopping needed or the odd takeaway!!
