We had a lovely break in this beautifully renovated byre. The views were stunning and we were made to feel very welcome (the shortbread being an added bonus!). It is also ideally located for touring the Peak District and a short car drive to the lovely town of Leek for those bits of shopping needed or the odd takeaway!!

Stunning location. The Old Byre has great potential but is rather dated - shabby furniture, no wifi, very small TV. Nearly very good.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you found the Old Byre to be dated and not to your taste. The living room is unfortunately not big enough to accommodate a large TV, otherwise we would certainly put one in. The furniture and TV are as shown in the photos. The cottage unfortunately does not advertise as having Wi-Fi. We are in a rural location and not on super fast broadband (part of the charm of living in the country), however there is a Wi-Fi code available but the chance of it working in the cottage is slim because the walls are so thick.

Stayed Christmas week 2014. Cottage is located in a perfect location for exploring the Peak District. Cottage was clean, updated, and had everything you could possibly need for a cozy and relaxing week. The cottage had a great view overlooking the town of Leek, and on clear days we could see the mountains in Wales. We had two dogs with us and there was a fenced-in field with tons of space for them to run around off lead when we weren't out walking. We cooked most nights but there were several local pubs and restaurants within a few miles that were open, even over the Holiday week. If you're into cycling or mountain biking, take your bikes. Great roads, lots of hills, and tons of trails to ride. We would highly recommend staying here.
