This cottage is a delight. Lacks nothing you will need to make your holiday comfortable. The owners are unobtrusively helpful. The location is central for most attractions in durham. If walking is your thing then you'll be spoil for choice.

This is a comfortable, well equipped spacious house nicely set, with good outlook, outdoor sitting area catches the sun. The cottage is near lots of places of interest, large shops and supermarkets only ten minutes away. Was pleasantly surprised with the bedrooms as the photographs didn't show them to be as bright as they actually were and roomier than imagined, both with lovely on suite bathrooms. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay.

Had the most wonderful Easter weekend staying at the Granery! We have two Australian Shepherds that love being out and about so the location was amazing for exploring the local area. Within a 20 minute drive we were able to reach some beautiful walks and the owners kindly allowed us to use one of their fields that was spare to give the dogs a run about in when we first arrived. The Graneey itself was just like a home away from home. It was spacious and comfortable with everything that we could need for our stay. After a day out walking it was perfect setting down to relax for dinner and have the log burner going in the background, we even managed to sit outside despite not being the warmest! Would definitely recommend and will be planning a return trip.

We only stayed 2 nights due to our own time restrictions. The cottage was lovely and the wood burner really really warm! Nice to be able to control the underfloor heating in each room. The shower flow wasn't very strong (I think ours at home is quite powerful so everything else pales in comparison...) and the TV speaker had blown so the sound was pretty rubbish. We didn't go to watch television though so it didn't matter. Hamsterley forrest nearby was really great for the kids, less so for the dogs because of all the mountain bikers, but guess that's what its designed for really. Nice space to chill out in.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Sorry you had problems with the TV, which I wish I had known about at the time. Hope to see you again.

A stunning barn conversion in a beautiful location, really friendly owners. A real home from home with plenty of places to visit without travelling far. We will be back in the future.

Fab cottage - one of our favourites we have stayed here many times... Warm, clean and quiet, every thing you need close at hand. Owners close at hand should you need them. Wifi good.

This cottage was perfect for us. Great size and the quality of the rooms and furniture was excellent. The surround countryside and walks are amazing and the shops are a short, 3 'mile, drive away - perfect for a week in the countryside. Very friendly owner and there is lots to do in the surrounding area.

We recently enjoyed a family stay at The Granary. It is well equiped and very comfortable. The owners nearby but not intrusive at all. Have read previous comments about WIFI. The signal at first was low but the owner very quickly sorted it with a booster which gave us all a great signal for the rest of the stay. Looking forward to booking again.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, very clean and excellent facilities. Very comfy beds. Loved the woodburner in the chilly evenings. Our only disappointment was the poor wi-fi connection during our stay. Overall we had a great stay and would definately stay again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments regarding WiFi and the problems you had during your stay ,for future reference if you would have contacted us during your stay we would have been able to rectify this immediately as we have a mobile 4g router on standby for such occasions ,we look forward to seeing you again.

If you want 'bright lights big city' location then don't go to The Granary, but if you're looking for comfort and a home from home in the most stunning scenery with the friendliest people I've ever met, do go.
