This amazing and spacious property offers fantastic views over the surrounding area and is a short walk to the beach.

‘Impressive and spacious’ are the first words that describe this period seaside villa. With breathtaking views over the River Torridge, Instow beach, the sea and across the estuary towards Appledore, The Captain’s House (centre property in photograph) is also owned and managed by the Webbery Estate (refs HPPR, HPPS, H81, HDDP, HDDN, HDDQ, HDDO and HMMN, just 15 minutes away) and is located in the pretty coastal village of Instow, just a short walk from the beach. One of a pair, the holiday house has an enclosed garden and patio area to the rear. Having been renovated, the property boasts a fitted kitchen and dining room which has stunning views over the estuary. Guests can enjoy lovely views from most of the upstairs bedrooms and there is a small reading area that overlooks the garden. The pretty village of Instow, located between Barnstaple and Bideford has stretches of golden, sandy beaches and dunes, which makes this an ideal place for a relaxing family holiday. An ideal spot for most watersports and sea-fishing can be enjoyed here, or alternatively local boat trips are available. For those wishing to sample the local food, plenty of pubs and restaurants can be found in Instow and the speciality is seafood - of course. The famous ‘Tarka Trail’ - just on the doorstep - is perfect for walkers and cyclists and follows the estuary towards Braunton and is a lovely way to experience the delights that this area has to offer. On the opposite side of the estuary is Appledore, a pretty unspoilt village with a wealth of painted fishermen’s cottages, found up narrow winding streets, some of which date back as far as 1335. Famous for its maritime history and arts there is a maritime museum and numerous arts and crafts shops. Just a short drive away, visitors will find a substantial and popular surfing beach and golf courses at famous Westward Ho! Within two miles is Bideford with its historic port and lively market as well as regular boat trips to nearby Lundy Island. The Dartington Crystal factory and RHS gardens at Rosemoor are easily accessible, as is a wealth of National Trust properties including Tapely Park and Hartland Abbey, to name a few. Shops 100 yards.

    Great location and beautiful house. Well equipped but decor lets it down slightly. Living room sofas need replacing! Perfect for large groups and within very easy reach of all facilities.

    We like this house and have stayed there 3 times now. However, on this occasion we consider the outside space to be unusable, especially when you take dogs which we do. I wasn't going to send this as the problem will be sorted, I assume, at some stage but I see that other people have reviewed this house and have said the same about the outside space.

    What a fantastic location, looking out over the estuary every morning as the sun rises is a super way to start the day. Instow is a lovely village and the shop is superb, the beach ideal for dog walkers, where dogs of all shapes and sizes run free and all happy to socialise. A very friendly place with 4 pub/restaurants ll of good quality.

    Lovely house in great location, easily accessible to surrounding facilities. On arrival a bottle of wine and scones were left for the party and appreciated, we had 3 generations staying and the house was well equipped for every eventuality, plenty of room for all 4 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 toddler and a baby. Small garden with bbq, fully enclosed so safe for toddler, didn't allow him to go to garden on higher level on his own. Would highly recommend this accommodation .

    For a large property there was only one key, would be useful as it is very likely that more than one family would share the property to have an additional key. Also, in the rooms it would be good to have a towel rail as there is limited space to hang all the bath towels. Finally the the driveway entrance has a raised kerb and one of our party caught the underside of their car, could do do with lowering.
